Hey guys, I have given this a bit of thought, asked a few mates what they think. Not 1 of them said no. So..

What about running a tourny, say a 5 gamer. 4 of your games "count" towards your results, and your worst is "cut".

It would allow the senarios to be played without people crying how that senario was never going to go well for them. Also would stop us having to have these blanket bans that everyone is pretty keen to chuck around.

Obviously it would require a little more thought then simply the above. But if enough people are interested I would definately be keen to give it a go at my next PUP-CON.

Might stop people having the mantality that you "HAVE TO WIN EVERY GAME BY 20-0"

What do people think?

I think you would need more than 5 games - it might need to be 8 games cutting 1 - as you need enough scores to create "seperation" between the players. I don't think 4 games would be enough - You'd need the 6 in a 2 day tourney to make it work.

Secondly - Can the software put this process into action, and figure out how to make it work, without the TO having to do this manually (which would lead to both a lot of work, and a high risk of errors)?

If both those issues could be covered - I know it would be something that would help me out! perhaps I'm just being selfish! It would certainly promote risk taking and aggressive play - as if it pays off you win big, if it doesn't and you go down big, you forget about it and move on.

But to be honest, I don't think most players play to get 20-0 or nothing in tournament play. Sure they compete to win - but I don't believe the conduct of players is a problem in the Australian scene.

Overall - its certainly an interesting idea that could lead to some fun dynamics in the event. Definitely worth a shot.

i like it, but i'd like anything that stop's all this crying about how people are suddenly forced to think/react differently to games. so this is defiently a solution i'd prefer to see over the "omg i cant win XX scenario BAN IT NOW!"

Just make it 2 points for a win , 1 point for a draw.
Make it a rankings free zone!
Roll for each scenario before each game.
Have fun!

An hour after the tourney who cares who won!

Keith for PM— only thing I would change is 1 pt for loss, 2 for a draw, 3 for a win. And I mean English pints.

That’s not real Beer Hammer. It’s one pint for every model that dies, two for every model that runs off the table and three for those who survive.

Wouldn't this approach lead to less balanced armies?

For example, I could take my 10 warmachines Dwarves, know I'm going to lose the Blood and Glory mission but not care?

Lets say im an average player (which i am) and i win 3 games 20-0 lose 1 game to simon hall 20-0 and then loose 15-5 and 10.5-9.5

Im just going to forget about the 20-0 loss and tell simon it didn't count.. but wait my result is still the same overall. And most people at pilgramage would have had atleast 1 20-0 loss. It does not really make sense to me how it would work overall

Lets use someone realistic for the example. Who loses to Simon?

Ooh, let's use me. I got 5 20-0s and 1 0-20. Let's drop my 0-20. Perfect tournament, woo!

Due to the way the rounds are seeded I think this could be abused somewhat.
First game get yourself absolutely massacred and then play a series of weaker players and then have your final score jumped up as that first game doesn't count.

--------------------
Current Wargaming Record
Vampire Counts 6 Wins 12 Losses
Dark Elves 38 Wins 5 Draws 58 Losses
Orcs and Goblins 26 Wins 5 Draws 42 Losses
High Elves 5 Wins 2 Draw 11 Losses
LotR 40 Wins 10 Draws 17 Losses

EiF Lesson learnt: Never trust goblin allies.

Step 1 ... Turn up to play some games of warhammer
Step 2 ... Definitely drink beer
Step 4 .... ????
Step 5 .... Profit!
Step 6 .... Who cares

--------------------
Actually I should come clean, about the initial PM from "Harry".

His was far more friendly and approachable. In fact, I think he even used the word please! I decided to jazz it up a bit. And by a bit, I mean I wrote the whole thing.
