I never said take away the regional invites.

There is also the argument that WA segments itself by using westgamer and not involving itself on twitter and WAU along with the rest of the Australian community.

QUOTE(Blade_of_Apollo @ Feb 24 2015, 01:14 PM) *

If you want a place, go to tournaments wherever they may be, and perform. Don't complain about it being a boys club for Vic/NSW. If you want to be invited, go to big events and play well.

Yes, how dare WA have there own forum that better caters to them rather than the Eastern states.

From what I hear there is quite abit of ill will from Western Australians that the rest of the country pretends they dont exist - but they are happy to take the mining profits.

WAU isnt the be all and end all of wargaming in Australia...

Good selective quoting. I am opposed to passing down regional invites. The second part you quoted was in regards to those that didn't get a pass down of the auto-invite.

Seriously though, what does Westgamer do that is so amazing that it requires disengaging from the rest of AU, having their own rankings system, not cross posting events that occur and so on?

So you must participate in WAU to be considered for the Australian Fantasy Masters despite living in Australia?

Hmmmmm Wargamerau Fantasy Masters does have a certain ring to it, but might as well call it the Haig Innagural Trophy Tournament, since he always wins tongue.gif

West Side!!! East Side!! We gonna have a wargamer rap war!! armata_PDT_36.gif

Lol I don’t know if we have any aspiring rappers in the community over here, I think we might lose badly in the rap-off.

Nothing is particularly special about westgamer, it’s just very convenient since it has various other forums that relate to the local scene (things like a specific forum to find games on, and a forum each for all the major clubs). These things would fill with irrelevant information if it included all of Australia.

I think some TO’s have posted their events on here as well…….not sure I have ever seen a reply to one though. Which is absolutely understandable, if I lived somewhere where I could easily attend a 50+ player event every other month I wouldn’t be too excited about a 20-30 player event several thousand kilometres away on the other side of a desert situated in an expensive city either!

We have our own ranking system because it’s fun. It’s a lot more user friendly for people who like it for the laughs to be able to easily compare their ranking against their friends without having to sift through several pages of faceless names on the main Oz ranking site to discover they are ranked 173rd and 218th. It’s also better suited to the style of events we have (major soft scores that are hard to get), which is why its split into two (personally I think there should be a painting ladder as well to get the full spectrum).

We also play a fairly different style of Warhammer to most of the rest of Oz (completely un-comped), so a lot of discussion here has limited relevance to people who are only going to play locally. I look at a lot of the lists on here and go “what on earth are they thinking?!!”…….they are thinking about their comp score or restrictions.

Cheers Karl, thanks for response. My thoughts;

Club & Game finder forums are on WAU, very easy to have them set up. Having said that, Westgamer is fairly entrenched, I'm not expecting anyone to move!

Interesting point about the rankings system, and that's fair enough I guess. I don't have a solution for that apart from another field on the rankings system to sort by state, which is a big hassle, so I see the need for a separate rankings system, especially given the way you guys score tournaments.

I don't think the style of tournaments is a big thing though. It's all warhammer, comp or no comp.

Geography plays a big part in WA's invite being auto. I think this was always the case. I don't feel the eastern states have the same fallback position as yourselves though, which is why I am against the invite being passed down over here. I'd rather the 8th best Qlder get an invite as opposed to a Tas player who attends 2 tournaments a year.

I'm pretty sure Game and 50 Cent already did that one. It's called Westside Story.

Khorne ballers, Slaanesh ballers, CD's, Dwarfs
Middenheimers, Estalians, white boys, Lustrians
Tomb Kings, Sigmarites, Vampire Lords, Bretonnians
All these mothers been patiently waitin'
Since the West coast fell off, the streets been watchin'
The West coast never fell off, I was asleep in Hampton
Boothy Baby been here, the beats been knockin'
Peter Platell doin' his thing, Yordan still poppin'
I got Bunbury Love, 20 zipping witches to that Tay Tay shiz
And Westside Connection, been had it locked, witch
I'm in the rearview, my Cannon is cockin'
I put red dots on that ballers head like Rodman
Masters, railroads, double flees, conga cases
Fought that, not guilty, I'm back, ballers hate me
Been there, done that, plastic crack, got jacked
Got shot, came back, jumped on Mitch's back
Payback, homey I'm bringin' C.A. back
And I don't do button up shirts or wear crocs
All you old edition playa's tryin' to advance
Aftermath witch, take it like a real yolo man

[Hook: 50 Cent]
If you take a look in my eyes
You see I'll be a gamer 'til I die
That Bunbury chronic got me so high
Game tell 'em where you from, baller Westside

[Verse 2: The Game]
I'm lowridin' homey, six Demigryph Impala
Gold scythe's spinnin', chrome hydraulics
Run up on my Unicorn, you stop breathin'
Hagbane tips make ballers disappear like Houdini
Gang bangin' is real, homey I'm living proof
Like Yordan, C-walkin' on top of Chuck B's roof
Masters critics wanna converse, about this and that
Cause we want the best, and they want it whack
Keep jibbin' and jabbin', I pull an Ascendant Franz fappin
And get to clickin' and clackin', your homies wanna know what happened
Come to Hampton see Thriller like Mike Jackson
I might actually be, Lee, Jefferson, here talk smackin
Prior to dice rollin, I was Magic the Gathering traffickin'
In the dope spot, tourney point tallying
Homey I ain't braggin', I took five Phoenix's
You wanna die, run up on that black guard splattering

[Hook]

[Verse 3: Game]
Canberra, Canberra, big city of dreams
I got my shortest shorts fitted on, I'm doin' my thing
Got me a flying Daemon Prince, you know the drama that bring
I got ballers in Westside Geraldton and Southside Perth behind me
And Roy told me at Cancon, I'm good to come through
So I ain't gotta fly Eastwards till there's East smashin to do
I'm gangsta - more like Wulfric than Sigvald
Play Warhammer, I paint mini's, now who got the Goonerade onboard?
You ballers is Nutso, if you think West ain't gonna come through
Leave yo' ass stretched out like a Skullcannon reared'd you
God gotta let me in Good Games, all the games I've been through
I was a tournament winner before I turned twenty-two
Homey I'll remind Legrand of his last overseas quest
And I don't contemplate whether or not Kwok's got anything left
Got a Broome in my hands as I sweep you aside
Wargamerau - better hold onto that pride.

[Hook]

Rojo I always suspected u were actually Tupac hiding out all these years tongue.gif .

As for the cost and distance of larger tournaments, I used to live in rural Qld and travelled on average 16 hours to attend interstate tournaments while on a budget.

It is possible, but I can understand people not wanting the hassle. However masters was originally designed to have the very best players in Australia playing off to see who is the best. Gaining an auto invite just because of geographical location has always seemed odd to me.

I can understand having a representative from every state is neat, but they have to be able to compete at that level or it becomes a bit of a joke. If someone is just showing up to get hammered each game it unbalances the entire event and can't be fun for that person either?

Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt
and troll response are both welcome and appreciated armata_PDT_37.gif
