It had to happen, I been there, done that. Emperors children done, Thousand sons done, World eaters done. SO that leaves only deathguard. Primarily a modelling project but I will play some games as I go and try and get a competitive list if I can (50% win ratio would be good).
The new FW deathguard conversion kist for PM's and Termies was the last nail so I have placed my order. The army will be all on foot.
HQ - Will probably have a Nurgle scorceror and a DP (without wings as that's just not deathguard) for some variation but I will only run 1 at a time.
Elites - 2 units of 7 terminators just because they are so cool. All will be converted using FW kist as a base.
Troops - 4 units of 7 PMs based on FW stuff.
Fast - No way, its deathguard
Heavy - Some scratch built oblits or maybe a Vindicator (cos I've never had one before)
I have already made some molds of some confrontation models (undead) of guts and ripped skin etc. Also made a copy of the 2007 nurgle banner (from CSM box).
First model (a test ?) scorcer holding a familar and a scimitar Green stuffed some guts and rips on his cloak.
Scratch built (were for 1Ksons but..) oblit with green stuff should pad. Tyring to get better results so I got some brown stuff. Looks sharper but wont know until its dry. Promising. Has anyone use this product before?
Next was trying procreate putty (grey-white colour). Seem better again but cost more.
a gut shot
The verdict is out until they dry. Procreate, brown stuff or green stuff.
If anyone knows of a better modelling putting I would appreciate any info
Bruce
I agree, DP without wings is MUCH more in theme. If I saw a DP with wings in this army it would earn the shifty eye's look.
DP with wings in in theme if you ask me, im pretty sure mortarion had wings when he became a DP. even if you just put some rotted ones that couldnt pull the skin off a custard on it would look cool.

DG at the turning point to chaos were a pale sickly green i think, with dark green trim. if you have the horus heresy novels im pretty sure DG are on one of the covers.
JoD
I think pre-heresy they were just bare metal, or was that just their space ships?
From all ive seen the 'official' DG colour scheme is pale green, but people do it any number of ways and shades.
I prefer the look of your brown base model, adds more 'interest', the plain green looks a bit dull.
Catachan is a nice colour to use for DG i think.
This is what I will aim for, green with brown trim. Just test colours.
green stuffing continues.... Some more oblits
Tying to make really bloated and decayed. Oblits feel like they should be nurgle with toughness 5 (hey thats what they used to be). Making these while waiting for rest of stuff to arrive,,,.
they look really good mate, very unique compared to the standard nurgle termies you see kicking round!
good work !!
i hope ur painting skillz can ,make up for your unreal modelling skillz
well done, im liking this!
I might have to get the new FW nurgle scorceror WoW

mines not a patch on that....
Oh well, will plug away with the oblits ...
Got my new GD , I can't wait to paint him. Will have to make a custom base like the celtic ruins I'm using for rest of army.
he's big. I put him on a CD to get an Idea re base size.
I also thinking of making some lessor demons from warhammer crypt gouls converted and pussed up. Figure on 14 for a start. Any ideas on this:?:
cheers
No base supplied so I'm making one. Cut a circle out of mdf and stuck on some celtic bases I had. Then filled with el cheapo expoxy putty and will finish off with a green stuff layer with celtic ruins.
I will fix the gd to the base with some screws from underneath. Wouldn't want to drop it.
with the release of the new Codex: Chaos Daemons, i've been thinking that using Plaguebearers as lessor demons doesn't quite work for me.
2 reasons
first what if you (CSM player) has a unit of Plaguebearers to be LDS' play against a Chaos Daemon player how has the real Plaguebearers. Confused.
plus I needed to do some modeling as I'm waiting for my FW stuff.
so
i thought of using crypt gouls and reposition, green stuffing.
body has been stuck up 90 degrees
Should green stuff up nicely, on guts and shoulders. I might add some DG icons/tattoos when I paint them
Thoughts?
That crypt ghoul looks very promising! What does the back look like? I assume theres a gap.
Love the GD I cant wait to see what your skills manage with him. The pustuling and bloatedness is beautiful and the lack of wings i agree is fluffy.
As for the plaguebearer confusion: paint them in a novel scheme and you shouldnt have to much trouble...if your personalise it should be fine for LDs and theyd look sweet. Mind you the ghouls sound like they will blow plaguebearers away anyway.
Some LD's base coated and washed a few times...
and started to base coat the GD, still deciding on exact colours.
I must admit its going to be challenge to paint the big boy, but its going to be fun doing it!
guy from my club just pulled apart his old nurgling bases and rebased them 1 nurgling per base for his lesser daemons....makes sense really
I agree. As there are no lessor demon models (as codex chaos demon uses all existing demons) you can basically do whatever you want. Still a bit miffed about the new codex demons and there cool rules when we CSM just get lessor demons. You could use warmaster demons one per base.
Well its been a long wait but the new forge world DG stuff arrived.
WoW.
Very, very nice. Very, very fragile. Yikes, no more tossing in army bag!
Started making some up but waiting on some weapons for the termies.
I like the troopers more than the termies. Troopers more bloated, not sure why. Terminator shoulder pads are sweet.
Just to prove I'm trying to do some painting here a squad I've been working on, base coated and washed a few times.
and
all of them (1500) points . I'm trying to get ready for TAGCON then FoB.
