So...I've had a dwarf army sitting in my cupboard for awhile and decided to get it out and paint it up for 8th ed...here's the first unit of warriors...only 20 in this picture though I'll be bumping it up to 25. I'll probably be updating more often on my website. But thought I'd put it here as well to help encourage me to get er done...

Alrighty then...so now we got some of the thunderers assembled. You'll notice I've done them with a banner. This isn't a mistake as I plan to run the unit 20 strong and if need be get them reformed into a rank and file unit. Some people might say this is a waste...and I may agree if they don't preform like i want them to...Either way it gives me an excuse to practice my freehand skillz on the banner.

Looking good mate!
Loving the warriors. -------------------- ''I just accidentally bit my tongue, but still managed to finish the story I was telling. Hey I've been painting the thunderers but just wanted to give you a look at the banner bearer for the thunderers unit.

Very nice freehand work and highlighting on the banner.
I also like the GS paving on the base. -------------------- 'The German today is like the June Bride; he knows he is going to get it, but he doesn't know how big it is going to be.' - Gen. Richard "Windy" Gale, 6th Airborne Division Commander

Just by the by does anyone know of any good alternatives for hammerers? I'm planning on using the surplus of miners I have atm to fill the gap...but would like models with actual hammers eventually.

Try this tutorial from Bugmans Brewery. Although the second method is a lot more work, the results are worth it. -------------------- Hereticus - Lord of Destruction, Killer of You.

Here's a shot of the finished thunderers!...I'm happy with how they turned out. I've been practicing my speed painting and can get out roughly 10 of these bad boys in about 3-4hrs not including banner and champion.

Ummm my secret? Knowing what colour scheme I'm doing...what paints I'm going to use and having them handy and then basically just attacking the project...I will paint furiously for an hour at a time take a break and then go at it again...I will say that you need to have your basic highlighting/shading techniques down and have good brush skills...that way your hand knows what its doing when you go to paint a robe or armor etc etc...and you don't have to think about it a whole lot...
does that help any? if you want more just PM and I'll see what I can do to help you out. -------------------- Commission Painting Service...If you don't have the time or patience then let us do it for you! ----->Ministry of Paint<-------

Keep up the awesome work, will hopefully see these at orktoberfest?
