So...I've had a dwarf army sitting in my cupboard for awhile and decided to get it out and paint it up for 8th ed...here's the first unit of warriors...only 20 in this picture though I'll be bumping it up to 25. I'll probably be updating more often on my website. But thought I'd put it here as well to help encourage me to get er done... smile.gif

Very, very nice!

The freehand work on the banner is great as is the blue highlights.

Thanks for sharing,

Allan

Awesome. Love the colour scheme as well - it just works.

Gem on the axe is sweet too.

Alrighty then...so now we got some of the thunderers assembled. You'll notice I've done them with a banner. This isn't a mistake as I plan to run the unit 20 strong and if need be get them reformed into a rank and file unit. Some people might say this is a waste...and I may agree if they don't preform like i want them to...Either way it gives me an excuse to practice my freehand skillz on the banner.

Looking good mate!

Loving the warriors.

Hey I've been painting the thunderers but just wanted to give you a look at the banner bearer for the thunderers unit.

Very nice freehand work and highlighting on the banner.

I also like the GS paving on the base.

Just by the by does anyone know of any good alternatives for hammerers? I'm planning on using the surplus of miners I have atm to fill the gap...but would like models with actual hammers eventually.

Try this tutorial from Bugmans Brewery. Although the second method is a lot more work, the results are worth it.

Here's a shot of the finished thunderers!...I'm happy with how they turned out. I've been practicing my speed painting and can get out roughly 10 of these bad boys in about 3-4hrs not including banner and champion.

Ummm my secret? Knowing what colour scheme I'm doing...what paints I'm going to use and having them handy and then basically just attacking the project...I will paint furiously for an hour at a time take a break and then go at it again...I will say that you need to have your basic highlighting/shading techniques down and have good brush skills...that way your hand knows what its doing when you go to paint a robe or armor etc etc...and you don't have to think about it a whole lot...

does that help any? if you want more just PM and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

At the battle of Doom Mountain, Nagrat Headsplitter's corpse had barely touched the ground before his second in command began clubbing the Dwarf king with Nagrat's own - still twitching - severed arm.
