,

I'm another of the people jumping on the PP wagon - better late than never.

I've decided to jump in with Skorne - based on some of the models and zero knowledge of the game... not sure if this is a good idea in hindsight, as they seem to be a bit of a plodding Melee based army... but there do appear to be some variations that can make them interesting.

I'll be playing a bunch of games with just the Warpack initially to get a handle on the game - but i'd also like to start thinking about purchases to extend it out to a 35pt list (using as much of the warpack as i can).

This is what i'm leaning towards...

pMakeda
Molik Karn
Titan Gladiator
Bronzeback Titan
Cyclops Savage
Praetorian Swordsmen (6)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (4)

This should be 35pts (it seems like a small list for 35pts though).

I've been reading that there is a lot of symmetry and combos with Makeda, MK, the Bronzeback and beast handlers - so there is a lot of potential there...

The MK assassination build seems to be old hat, but since I already have a lot of heavy hitters in the list, i'll be using him more in a skirmishing role. Using pMakeda's 'Savagery' ability which makes him into a super fast skirmisher able to whip around the table taking out light stuff...

Can someone who knows the game better than me give me an idea whether I am heading down the right track? Mourghoul seems ok, but i'd like to try a variety of casters pretty quickly so i can get a handle on the meta-game quickly...

EDIT - 25NOV2010 - changed the title of the thread.
EDIT - 03DEC2010 - changed the subtitle

Had a game tonight using the Rasheth list above - (Rasheth, 3 titans and gatormen etc) - it was against pSevvy with errants, 2xReckoners, the Blessing and a whole bunch of buffing solos).

Another caster i hadn't played before - awesome. I'm really leaning towards Menoth as my second army, so i'm always keen to give them a go.

We rolled up convergence. There was some confusion about a bunch of crates in the middle of the table - but generally it was stacks on - with Gatormen vs Errants - with the Gators coming out slightly ahead when the got the charge off.

Reckoners with 2 shots each were tearing holes in my beasts - with the cannoneer concentrating on knocking out support solos at the back - and Rasheth channelling through beast handler sacrificial lambs to do the same.

Crucially - Sevvy only got his bouncing ashes to ashes thing off once. Was just out of range first turn, then the arc-node was caught in the range of Castigate in second. Third turn, he rolled a 1 - so only hit the Tormenter and a gator.

The BB got off a counter-charge on an errant that moved too close - which moved him into strike range of the reckoners next round. The Menoth player threw a bunch of models in his charge path, including the big book thing that can only ever take one wound at a time.

I took a wound off it with a beast handler, and then could have slammed or just killed it with the gladiator - but decided to do it with Rasheth instead.... he cast influence on an errant sitting next to the book - and the errant proceeded to hack the book apart... ah, much more satisfying.

BB got rushed and charged into one reckoner (one had the ability to ignore the first damage roll, and the other had the ability to walk away with no FS's after one hit - so i charged the former). I boosted all my hit rolls - probably not necessary, but far more fun. The tusk charge attack was ignored - the BB then hit it twice with open fists, picked it up and threw it at the other reckoner, knocking them both down.

Ah, satisfying... now if only i'd found the points to fit the agonizer in so they couldn't just shake off... AH ####!!

Just realised as i'm typing this, that my list had an agonizer in the list above, but i didn't field it... wow, that sucks.

So the reckoners shook off and then popped the BB. However, bad positioning left one in the slam range and angle of the Gladiator, who then slammed it 7" into Sev - knocking him down, and then followed up and killed him.... oh well..... stupid agonizer.

There's no doubt the Rasheth list works.... it's a good backup.

My issue is currently all the cryx players - specifically if i was matched up with a Cryx player in a tourney - there is a 90% chance he'd take a Venethrax list, and that would screw me over completely.

Consequently - i think I might have a look at some Zaal lists.

His ability to not rely so heavily on beasts and his ability to deny all souls to the enemy means I should be in a much better position against him...
