Interesting. After attending an event a few months back one of my club members won a painting prize. Due to the TOs lack of organsational skillshe was overlooked in the prize department. This was identified by the TO in question and was to be rectified by the posting of a set prize to the winner. All good it would seem. No worries. Sounds fair.

Two months on, heaps of emails and promises later, the prize is still no where to be seen.

The TO in question then said he would bring them for collection at an event this weekend. Again fail. When told that the prize getter was annoyed, said " well he can get f$$ked then".

My question is do we really want peeps like this taking our hard earned cash and runnng events. This person also after a bit of reaserch has been know to have made quite a few mistakes like this in the past, including taking back all prizes in one instance and having to re issue the lot to the right peeps.

Thoughts people?

Do we really need to air such grievances on a public forum? It's just a box of toy soldiers. If prizes mean that much to you, you're in it for the wrong reasons.

Certain people and their personality I guess. Why does anything happen anywhere?

Rather inflammatory Roy, lets discuss this at Apoc but I dont approve of your stereotyping.

Yours sincerely.

Whilst I agree with the statement, I really think inciting mob mentality does not lead to successful resolution.

If you don't like the way a T.O. has conducted a tourney, make a note to yourself and feel free to then make your own choice on whether or not you will attend any further events run by said T.O.

edit: d!ck statement removed... (apologies)

MOD Edit - The topic is already one that is sensitive enough. No sense in dragging up unrelated stuff from the past.

ROY Edit - <sigh> accountability.

I like to tell a little story about the last man who was in a sword fight with Caine. During the fight he was heard commenting on how crappy a blade it was, old and busted, not cared for, and on and on. Finally he asked Caine what its name was. Caine grinned and said "Sword." and then shot the guy 4 times.

Dragging this thread back to the original topic.

Poomba, if you're going to have a go at somebody, then do it properly and have a go. There is no respect to be earned by bagging Alex massively, then trying to make it sound like a general debate topic at the end of your post.

Note that whilst I know Alex, I would not consider us to be friends so this isn't me mounting a fan-boi defence for him.

Honestsly, couldnt give a rats if I didnt get a prize by accident, I dont attend tournaments for the prizes, and not exactly the most diplomatic move by the TO, but regardless I have sympathy... at least they ran the event in the first place!

I'll add my 2c worth here and say that prizes should not motivate people but sadly that does not seem to be the case in some circumstances.

Tournaments are about fun and if you win or pick up a prize good for you, but debating the issue in an open forum is not the best of ideas me thinks and this thread should be closed.

And if your going to raise this issue you may as well say who the issue is with, as I know the person in question and he is a stand up guy.

i accidentally awarded third place to the wrong person at D2 due to counting back on the wrong category. explained this to the person who missed out, advised them that i'd get on it asap & then didnt for about six months. maybe it was a year. armata_PDT_04.gif the moral of the story is that while it wasnt ideal, the prize winner survived his lack of a box of toys for almost a year. even thrived. he went to work and everything. what a trooper.

i sorta think 'youre not in it for the prizes' is a pretty lame duck answer, a punter pays his money, wins a category, gets a prize. the end. however we're not talking 2 battle boxes here are we? its a small community, pms are available, alternative arrangements can be made. like free entry the next year or a carton next time you see them

honestly 'get f**ked' may be due to incessant badgering. lets keep it real here we've got someone elses version of half the story.

who told him? how'd they tell him? if i forget to bring something to somewhere & some random person says YOU SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT then my reaction would be along the lines of 'oh shut up'.

chances are you escalated the situation wd
