Hey,
So I already had this army diary going on earlier in the modelling section, but since this is happening I am going to transfer everything to here and then continue on as before. Let me know what you guys think! The Dentist This post has been edited by The Dentist: Jun 13 2012, 09:07 PM -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

My first challenge was to paint my Legion of Everblight Hordes starter set. I felt like I had hit a plateau in my painting skills so throughout this diary I will be trying to improve where I can and seek advice from more experienced painters on techniques and ideas. So far I have been lucky enough to speak with Glenn Lamprecht and Gav Clarke about painting tips and tactics. Well that's enough rambling, on with the pics! I won't waste space with the WIP pics of the Legion stuff for now but I may post up a step by step next time I paint a war beast. By the way, Hordes is an awesome game with awesome models! ![]() ![]() ![]() I still need to finish painting Lylyth Will post again soon. 99% fininshed
![]() ![]() I finished my Striders. Really pleased with them. Unfortunately my camera skills are a fail so they look less impressive here in the forums (wow arrogant much?). I added more snow to their bases than I have on my other models. I think it looks much better. I think I will go back and add more snow to my finished models ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by The Dentist: Oct 13 2010, 10:26 AM -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

So I have been playing around with different casters and different lists.
At the moment I really like Saeryn as a caster. I think she is very flexible with decent fury. However I am still not having much success. I just can't work things out, it is driving me mad. The list I have been running is Saeryn, Omen of Everblight Shredder Nephilim Soldier (sometimes protector) Shredder Carnivean Seraph Blighted Nyss Striders Blighted Nyss Striders Officer & Musician Blighted Nyss Shepherd Strider Deathstalker I'm wondering about the Carnivean, it dies quite often and I am a little worried it doesn't have any support. Can anyone suggest some ideas? The other alternative is straight swap Saeryn for pThagrosh. -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

@Nailyon, thanks! I am pretty happy with the way the purple and the bone has turned out. Each time I paint a beastie I get a little bit better at building up the layers of the skin. Still plenty of room for improvement!
So I finished the Seraph and have a done a little bit of work on my Strider UA and Deathstalker solo. Still heaps to do! ![]() ![]() ![]() Cheers! -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

Then look at any weaknesses you think you have and then make a charge or two. |

Looking good mate, what time do games finish on saturday at Orkfest?
I'll probably make it (no promises though!) and if you finish early I'd love to have a game if you are keen. I would echo the suggestion of not jumping around, but I would settle on something that you like first. No point making yourself play it for 5 games if you don't enjoy it. -------------------- |

I really like your recipie for the purple. I have done the same on my dark elves: Haumagaunt purple, leviathian purple wash, Liche Purple then Warlock purple.
What colour(s) did you do the skin on the warcaster please? Keep it up -------------------- |

I know the hall is meant to shut at 6.30pm I am not sure when my last game finishes however with my feelings on fantasy at the moment and the fact none of my mates are playing in the tourney, I may just throw the game completely and go play Warmahordes lol Would be great if we could get a game in. I will either pplay pLylyth with the models I have, or proxy her for Saeryn (I have the most fun with her). I really like your recipie for the purple. I have done the same on my dark elves: Haumagaunt purple, leviathian purple wash, Liche Purple then Warlock purple. What colour(s) did you do the skin on the warcaster please? Keep it up Cheers. The skin is Shadow grey, 55:45 (ish) Asurmen blue and badab black wash. Then highlighting up shadow grey and space wolves grey till a colour I am happy with (can't remember how many times I highlighted). -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

Holy ship! I won a game! Had a game against another Legion player at IF tonight and actually got a victory! By scenario too! We played the one with the two little circles (Outflank, outlast or something). I think a big factor was I knew everything that was in his list (he was running different things and different caster of course).
I ran the following Saeryn, Omen of Everblight Shredder Teraph (thats right a Teraph) Shredder Carnivean Seraph Blighted Nyss Striders Blighted Nyss Striders Officer & Musician Blighted Nyss Shepherd Strider Deathstalker Opponent had eThaggy Carni Ravgore Shredders x3(?) Striders Forsaken with UA ummmm Think thats it I know everyone seems to bag the Teraph. But it worked wonders in this game. With it's animus it camped on an objective and shot all the little shredders and weak units that came towards it and allowed me to control the objective from about turn 1. Also, I love Saeryn! She is awesome and if I wasn't a muppet and forgotten to say I was using her feat (it was all I was thinking about whilst I was activating her) i wouldn't have lost several of my beasts. Still, very proud of myself for sticking to scenario and playing smarter than I have recently. I feel a little bit bad for my opponent because I was very excited for my victory (I haven't had one in a very, very long time) and all my mates in the shop were laughing and joking about how crap I am. Still he was a nice guy and was very interesting to be able to see Legion being played in two distinct ways. oh yes and I picked up a HEAP of new models to paint. Where will I find the time? Oh wait! I have heaps of time! lol This post has been edited by The Dentist: Oct 22 2010, 01:02 AM -------------------- Check out my 'Road to War' Legion of Everblight diary

It looks brilliant and just the shade I was looking for. -------------------- It takes 42 muscles to frown...but only 4 to slap the person that annoyed you.
