After 5+ years in the 40k 2-day event wilderness I've chosen ARC 2011 as my return to this aspect of gaming.
Sure, it's been prompted by our friends WATT doing one last ride before passing on the ARC baton but there could be no better way than to return to where it all started for me many years ago. Early this year I played in my first Judgement Day having created and run JD for 4 years. To that event I took a glass-hammer SM Dread heavy list and had a great time playing it. See here For ARC I'm going to expand on that experience with the Junkyard Dogs. Army list 1200pts HQ: Master of the Forge Elites: Ironclad Dread w Heavy Flamer swap Dread w Multi-Melta & DCCW w Heavy Flamer upgrade Dread w Assault Cannon & DCCW Troops: 10x Servitors (counts as scouts) all w Sniper Rifles 10x Servitors (counts as scouts) incl Sgt w Combi-Melta & Melta Bombs Fast Attack: Land Speeder Storm Land Speeder Storm w Heavy Flamer Heavy Support: Rifleman Dread (2x twin Autocannons) Thunderfire Cannon Thunderfire Cannon 3x Techmarines, 20x Servitors (counts as scouts), 4x Walkers (Dreads) and 2x flying recovery vehicles (LSS's), these are the basis of a relic hunting exploratory force...fluff and more to follow. -------------------- Cheers

I always forget that you don't drink. My default assumption is always that a man who could crush my skull in his hand likes a beer. Lemonade it is. You got much done on them yet? Most of it was done for JD right?

Yeah, I never got to see the finished JD army. I second the request for pics of the army so far.

Im keen to see how this pans out - love to get in another game with you this year!
The theme is very cool, gameplay may be a little more tough. -------------------- |

Thanks gents.
The JoL army was finished for JD. I'll post pics in that thread and link it. Some of what I did for that army was unique to it and not something I want to incorporate in to this one. Nor could I bring myself to stripping them and starting again so this is a whole new army starting from scratch. I'll naturally apply some of what I learned from the first project but again this has a different look and feel to the Deathwatch Dreads. How far along? All metal has been stripped and mold lines cleaned, which is a good deal of the army (everything except the 2x LSS and Ironclad) Plastic untouched atm. Paint scheme is completely planned out and is relatively basic but hopefully should be effective. Another game would be good Luke although I'd be backing your DW over mine...too much 2+ to deal with. Correct assumption too...all about the theme, requiring masterful generaling...something I'd underachieve at. -------------------- Cheers

Update.
Laid down some dollars to get these bases in 25mm, 40mm, 60mm and flying 60mm. Enough for 1500pts plus objectives. They look $hit hot, are good for the theme and will save time. ![]() -------------------- Cheers

Bish,
Awesome paintjob on those minis, they blend in sooo well with the bases, I can't see them! Bish, Awesome paintjob on those minis, they blend in sooo well with the bases, I can't see them! Wicked job dude G G, it's my new 'stealth' camo scheme. Not bad aye? This is only half of the stealth camo cloaked scouts though...it takes time to do this work. I'm also not sure how Mssrs Firth and Co. will see the extreme freehand work given the dispersion, refraction and reflection of light caused by the multitudinous layers of highlighting. I purposely keep the bases really simple and plain so you could see clearly them on the table. Don't want to be known as 'that guy' with the Pro-painted GD/WD showcase army all the way man. -------------------- Cheers
