It was great seeing you both up at AUSCON and meeting you .
We can't wait to see what you have in store for this and have been chomping at the bit every since we put the original battle frame together Al |

Something to watch out for also will be our Extruded Foam Core Tiles, enabling you to hot wire/knife contours on your landscape, in such a way that your rolling hills, beach heads and cliff faces will all remain modular and compatible with the existing system. Which also brings us to the point of being able to supply Extruded Foam (outside of the BF5000 system) in precut shapes for your terrain building pleasure. Looking forward to adding this type of resource to our ever growing list. Let me know what sizes you might be interested in. Im sure we can accommodate. Cheers! Sheets the size of the battleframe would be great so you can attach them and build them up. 600mmX600mm would also be good. 25mm and 40mm thickness. Another bump demanding updates or news! Nothing to report at this stage. BF5000, while still fully supported, has needed to take a back seat to other projects and products that dont require so much steam to keep moving. Will certainly be picking things back up in the future as things become available, such as time. It's my pet project so am keen to have it moving forward again soon. -------------------- |

Apparently the 30 battleframe tiles i have aren't enough, just bought another 16. These tiles are awesome, and so much easier than using large boards, both for transport and storage.
A shot of a mix of tall and short tiles mixed in with some ramps - makes for an interesting board for Infinity. ![]() This post has been edited by maestro: Jun 5 2012, 09:12 PM |

Bit of a bump here. Is anyone using battleframe for "permenant terrain features" then just mixing and matching the placement of the tiles? It sounds like one of the best uses for the system, but at the same time storage could be an issue.

Bit of a bump here. Is anyone using battleframe for "permenant terrain features" then just mixing and matching the placement of the tiles? It sounds like one of the best uses for the system, but at the same time storage could be an issue. I'm using it for road/river systems, which works nicely on the tiles. I once had a table done on similar tiles with permanent buildings and it was a headache to store, It took the same amount of space as 5 other tables worth of terrain. With my battleframe, there is one tile with a permanent structure on it, mainly because it needed to imbedded into the tile to be stable. I'm actually considering buying another tables worth, as transport and storage wise they are great. I might of actually found a tub at bunnings that fits tiles in rows of 2x6, making storage a breeze. Just another quick bump, but just letting you know that BF5000 is going to see some serious development over the next few months.
We've got a few projects in the works that require some different tiles and tile additions, so for those interested, keep your eyes peeled -------------------- |

Can't wait! One thing i was thinking, is it possible to make the tiles double-sided?

Can't wait! One thing i was thinking, is it possible to make the tiles double-sided? Sorry I missed this one :\ No intention to, but if you want to explain your reasoning, I'm all ears. Im thinking what ever was on the underside would be prone to damage? Or are you looking to do something different to each surface? -------------------- |

Or are you looking to do something different to each surface? This - i haven't been attaching things to the tiles, more using them as more easily stored/transportable tables. Was thinking it would be easy enough to have another painted surface added, to allow mix and matching of tiles - eggrey for urban, brown or green (or hazard stripes!) for something different, or painting landing pads, streets, etc. actually, that could be really useful for doing modular street designs... |

Any chance of getting a vid or pics of someone actually using these tiles for terrain?
So far all I can find is someone sliding wooden boxes round a table. For those like me very limited imagination we need someone to show us how to make these things look good. -------------------- Dragon's Lair Miniatures

One would assume that at a very basic level, it's at least the same as the Realms of Battle boards GW do, ie fixed terrain that you can swap as desired, for cheaper.

They're not professional pics, but if b2b are ok, here's pics of some of my tiles (have a heap) in use at the infinity comp at cancon.
My spaceport - uses different heights of tiles, plus the ramps, to create a varied board, which makes for nice challenges like climbing, using bridges or ramps, and also blocks line of sight. ![]() ![]() And my jungle table - uses a mix of the 30x30 and 15x15 tiles to represent concrete slabs, and differentiate from intervening jungle zones. ![]() Hope this helps - just a couple of uses. As you can see, you can also mix in different colours or patterns to vary the tiles, and with the different heights you can really mix up the tables between games. |
