Hi All,
I have recently got my hands on some of Empress Miniatures superb modern figures. If you have not scene theri range, check it out as the detail on these bad boys are second to none - that includes GW! First off the rank is one of the Tier One style US Special Forces Operator. I have made an attempt at MARPAT camo. I liked to get opinions on whether I captured the feel of it. This was an especially fun miniature to paint - I particularly enjoyed painting the shemagh. I look forward to painting the other 3 operators. C & C welcome. Cheers Jas ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by jas: Jun 17 2011, 10:53 AM -------------------- |

Thought I'd attach these images which are the inspiration for the paint job.

Amazing work - the images make it even more impressive to see how close you got to what you were aiming for.
As for the MARPAT? I've always thoguht it would be hard to really convey the digital pattern at that scale but you've done a pretty good job. FOr some reason though it almost looks more like British cam to me? The only things I can offer (and this is not criticism rather suggestions) are breaking the arms up a little more - tan lines or tatts perhaps to break up how clean they look when the rest of him looks shabby and dusty. Also I'd try to get a bit more colour into the beard as it looks a bit drab. However it's an awesome job - well done! R |

You pointed out the areas that I was mainly concerned about myself. I might look at glazing the arms to get a tanned affect. As for the beard, maybe some more higlights below the lip. Cheers guys. -------------------- |

@ cmdr_roy - yes. yes he does.
@ OPR8OR - I tossed up painting gloves on the figure but opted out as they are not modelled. Would gloves make him look moar bada$$? I think they would but am willing to put it to the vote. -------------------- |

they look pretty sweet!!!
One thing thou is the bases seem a bit too dark brown for the middle east, might need to whitewash out the dark brown shade colour + they are also missing the grey/blue rocks from the photo. Also maybe dusting the boots up as you end up with dust up to your knees pretty quick running around over there. Thanks guys for the feed back.
Well here is one of Empress Miniatures US Infatry figures. Once again, I am a big fan of their stuff and have been itching to paint these guys. This is a test figure for ACU. i have gone against a lot of the recommended formulas I have found for ACU because it didn't seem to scale right. I have gone lighter on the groundwork. Let me know what you think. Cheers Jas ![]() ![]() -------------------- |

Jas that came up really nicely mate. What's your ACU recipe? On my screen, the darker grey/green colour came up reasonably darker than what I remember from the US guys I've worked with, but the whole piece is really well done. Same same for your SF guys.
Mark PS. What was postage like from Empress? I checked them out after seeing your guys here, and I'm pretty keen to place an order. -------------------- |
