Hi All,

I am going to try and hit a big tournament in all the states this year. Its a big task, and as so I want to make sure I hit the right tournaments.

Can anyone recommend a good tournament in NSW, preferrably close to an airport or in the south so I can drive.

I like playing 40k, pretty much any tournament 1200pts+ the bigger the better. I would like to play at a big tournament, so the more the merrier. Not too fussed about comp, sports and paint, so if they have them thats cool, if they don't I'm just as happy...

cheers

Lords of Terra is probably the biggest in NSW. Event Horizon will be pretty good turn out...

MOAB is also pretty fun if your an enduro type player (11 games over 3 days).

+1 Lords (July22nd-23rd?) or MOAB (October Long weekend) are the way to go.

Lords = July 22nd-23rd and MOAB = October Long Weekend (1st-3rd)

they are a few months apart, and I go up to sydney a fair bit for work. I might be able to con work into flying me up smile.gif

If I can, then it reduces the cost, and I'll try both. If not I will probably try MOAB. 3 Day tourny sounds fun smile.gif

I'd still suggest MOAB.

Free event entry + paid tournament + discounted goodies VS Paid entry + gaming events (participation games with lots of 12yo's) + full price goodies.

Yeah you miss out on the Demons but realistically unless you're spending all your time at the Demons tables you can probably pass on that. Actually that's somethng I'll have to ask about MOAB; whether they'll still have the paint room set up with the OzPainters boys...

Leviathon is pretty good too, that gets a good crowd.

For a list of what events were held in NSW in 2010 refer to http://www.gosfordgamers.net/ATR/YTD_Regional_NSW.htm.

Lords of Terra in July is easily the largest NSW event. However, both Battle in the Vines and Leviathan are well known major events. This year the organisers for BiV have moved the date to the weekend before Mother's Day to avoid conflicting with Leviathan (which is held normally in the middle of the NSW School Holidays).

Later in the year Emperor's Legion and MOAB are the events to check out. Emperor's Legion is a standalone 2 day event and MOAB has multiple different game systems and has 40K running over 3 days.

Regards

Mark C

thanx mark,

this will give me a good idea on what to look at... It is difficult working out what is a "good" tournament to go to on paper sometimes though. It usually comes down to who you play against in the 3-6 games over the tourney and then the TO(s).

cheers
