Warhammer 40,000 1750 Players Pack & Rules Army restrictions • Armies may not exceed 1750 points in size. • Current Codex armies may be taken, April 2011 version of Grey Knights will be used. In addition, the following may be taken: - Allies as specified in Codex Witch Hunters; - Special and/or unique characters; • Imperial Armour Army Lists from Imperial Armour 8, 9, and 10 - Imperial Amour Vehicles or Units can be used in a GW Codex army if they are noted as being available to that codex and you have prior TO permission. • The following may not be taken: - Superheavies; - Flyers; - Gargantuan creatures; - anything with mass points or structure points; - custom designed non GW codex lists, or chapter approved list - Apocalypse formations and/or Units; - Allies except as specified above; - Vehicle Design Rules or Creature Design Rules; - Chapter Approved Optional or Trial rules; - Fan-dexs; - Any rule which requires "opponent's consent". Army lists must be submitted by Saturday, 27th of April 2010. Please ensure your army list is legible and legal. Failure to have a legal list submitted by the due date will incur a Battle Point and Comp penalty. Tournament Rules • Warhammer 40,000 5th Ed rules. • Models do not have to be painted but must be based on the correct size base. • For the benefit of all players, “What You See Is What You Get” WYSIWYG will be enforced. If players have any doubts about how accurately a miniature represents a troop type, they should consult the organisers prior to the tournament. FAQs 1. Tournament will used all current GW and IA FAQs. It will also used the Independent National Warhammer 40000 Tournament FAQ prior to TO intervention. A copy of all FAQs will be available at the TOs desk on the days of the tournament, Game length Each game is allocated 2hrs 30mins and players are expected to adhere to this limit Players will be given reminders in each round, when there is 90, 60, 30, and when there is 10 minutes left for the game. Games will not be allowed to extend into breaks. Stalling tactics or Slow Play will not be tolerated. Players deemed to be deliberately delaying will be warned by the tournament organizers, and will then forfeit any subsequent games where they are deemed to be delaying. Timetable Saturday 14 May 8:30 Doors Open 9:00 TO Brief 9:15 Game 1 Draw 9:30 Game 1 12:00 Lunch Break 12:30 Game 2 Draw 12:45 Game 2 3:30 Game 3 Draw 3:45 Game 3 6:15 Finish up for day 1 Sunday 15 May 8:30 Doors Open 9:00 Game 4 Draw 9:15 Game 4 11:45 Lunch Break 12:15 Game 5 Draw 12:30 Game 5 3:00 Game 6 Draw 3:15 Game 6 5:45 Pack Up / Clean Up 6:00 Presentations Draw First round draw (grudge matches and pairings based on lists with similar composition scores) will be presented during the player briefing. Subsequent rounds will be seeded using the “Swiss Chess” system. You will never play the same player twice. You may play on the same table but we will try to avoid this where possible. Scenarios Will be available in the Mission Pack, separately. Score Breakdown – For general scoring Battle 6 games x 20 battle points per game = 120 points ~ 50% of total score Composition Panel Judged = 90 points. ~ 25% of total score Peer Judged = 6 x 5 Points ~ 10% of total score Sportsmanship 6 games x 5 points per game = 30 points ~ 15% of total score Total = 240 points (100%) Scoring is moderated so that scoring percentages are used for final values. Presentation is a separate category, which is not added to the general scoring system. Any prize categories that are a tie will be separated by count back of primary scoring category (best General ~ by Battle Points, etc), then by TO. Battle Scores Scenario based scoring system, Mission Bonus Points Win – 15 Draw - 10 points Loss – 5 Points max. 5 points All missions will have points to give a maximum score of 20 per game. They will be available with the individual mission scenarios. You will be given a results score-sheet to fill out for each game. Please ensure the score-card is filled out correctly and that both players have signed off on the results, and then bring it to Tournament Organizer’s desk. Once signed score sheets are handed to the TO they will not be changed under any conditions. Composition The intent behind the Army composition criteria is simply to encourage people to play with an army which has some consideration towards your opinion enjoy the tournament too. The system ensures that people who play armies that are designed to take advantage of rules or lack of rules are penalised whilst those that reduce their army effectiveness are rewarded. Panel Judged Panel judge will be handled by a panel that has no connection to the tournament or Eureka Wargames. As individual people look for different things in 40K lists it is not really possible to give guidance in this area. Peer Judged Scores will be awarded by the TO based on your opponents response to the following questions. 1. Was the army designed to Win At All Cost? 2. Does your opponent’s army take advantage of special rules or lack of official rules? 3. Do you think your opponents army is themed? 4. Do you think that your opponents list has excessive amounts of one model type (vehicles, monsters creatures, etc) 5. Did your opponent show you their army list before the game? Please note – That if a list is received that the TO’s consider to be too extreme even for the comp system, we reserve the right to request that the list be adjusted and resubmitted. Sportsmanship Scores (Max. 30 Points) The intent behind the sportsmanship criteria is simply to encourage people to play in a polite and acceptable manner. It simply means playing by the rules without resorting to cheating, sulking and throwing dummy spits. Therefore the system will ensure that people who play nicely get about the same points, but those people who are poor sports will be bit big time in terms of points earned towards the overall standings. After each game, each player will be given a sheet to fill in both their own battle points and sportsmanship questions for their opponent. Please mark the sheet according to how you feel your opposition was. 1. Would you play this person again? 2. Did you enjoy the game? 3. Was the a lot of rules queries by your opponent? 4. Did your opponent known the special rules for their army? Please Note. To cope with issues about players giving unreasonably good or poor marks due to personal considerations, the Sportsmanship marks will be checked progressively during the tournament for any clear anomalies, and may be adjusted accordingly in consultation with the player who gave the mark. Presentation Figures do not have to be painted to use in this tournament but they must be WYSIWYG . Presentation is designed for those that are better modellers and painters, than generals. Painting/modelling techniques to look out for are: Highlighting/Shading Decorated bases Conversions Theme After lunch on the second day, armies will be set up on the table you have played on to vote for the Player‟s Choice award. Each player will vote for their favourite 3 armies based (favourite receives 3 points, 2nd = 2 points 3rd =1 point) on the following categories, and the army that receives the most votes will be awarded the “Player‟s Choice” award. Ties broken by count back (number of 3 votes, etc) , then by TO. Painting/modelling techniques to look out for are: Highlighting/Shading Decorated bases Conversions Theme Rules Disputes, etc In all cases, where an adequate rule does not exist for a certain situation in a game, use the FAQS then use your common sense and the spirit of the rules as your guide to finding a solution. If this still does not work, roll a D6 for it. We will have an independent arbitrators present on the day (TO and assistants), but this avenue should be used as a last resort. Where a dispute arises and neither you nor your opponent agrees to a course of action, you may call in the arbitrator for resolution. However, you had better be sure that the rules do not cover the situation, as repeated “calling on the judge” will be frowned upon. The arbitrator’s decision is FINAL and possibly decided by a die roll, and will not be there to answer questions based on a lack of knowledge. Zero Tolerance - Cheating, Chipmunking/Sniping. Anyone found guilty of cheating in the tourney will be removed from the premises. Other Tournament Organisers will be notified and the player in question will be “black listed” from future EWA tourneys. While all player judged components may work well, it is susceptible to abuse, such as deliberately marking down or deliberately marking up opponents to gain an unseen advantage. This is commonly referred to as “Chipmunking” or “Sniping” in the broader gaming community. Anyone suspected or caught in the act will most likely be dismissed out of the tournament, as it is a very unpleasant thing to be doing. So in short, be honest, and be fair. Other Tournament Organisers will also be notified and the player in question will be “black listed” from future EWA tourneys. Things you need to bring along Any gaming material that you require to play, including: At least one copy of your army roster that is easily legible and correct, Copies of the reference materials used to design the army list (e.g. Army Books, Chronicles, White Dwarf articles etc), Rulebook, Sufficient dice, Tape or other measuring device, pen or pencil, templates, Glue and/or super glue for those emergency repairs Disclaimer All tournament players will be responsible for their own transportation, storage and due care of their own personages, figures and materials on the day. -------------------- Do not annoy the Dragon, for you are small and crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I dont know if this is the right place to ask but jsut so i am clear about the comp side of things...
one of the questions is "did your opponent have an excessive ammount of one unit type?" If i have an army of 40 footsloging space marines, 5 marines in one rhino and 1 drednought is that a fair time to say an excessive amount of one unit type or for infantry would that be reffering more towards having 150 ork boys? |

Its more about the 3 Heavy Slots of 3 Russes each rather than troops choices.
Since comp will be done by panel balanced lists shouldnt be an issue. -------------------- Do not annoy the Dragon, for you are small and crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I am intrigued on how the comp will differ from other systems. How would this system effect a dark angels player taking 3-4 death wing squads as troops. Does this count as spamming, or will you go, they are slow, there are plenty of counters to it, etc... I assume by one of the other posts that you are focussed on spamming non troops, eg. If that same player took 3 typhoon landspeeders, then that is spamming...
Don't have an issue either way, just curious on the wording. -------------------- I like baking scones and playing the kays

I would presume it falls under the normal way for spamming units.
Taking deathwing is not a bad thing, taking deathwing with all squads making maximum use of wound allocation exactly the same in each squad might be, or taking all squads with 4TH/SS and one cyclone. Stuff like that. -------------------- 3rd place Generalship and 6th overall - TerraCon 9

just a clarification on presentation. You have stated that models don't need to be painted, but they do need to be WYSIWYG. Is there a paint score though? So is there say 30 points for paint, and you just don't get that if you have unpainted models, or is it a side prize for players choice or something?

Yep we have 2 HUGE gas heaters in the roof that keep the hall really warm, just gotta keep the doors shut since the wind tends to undo the work fairly fast.

QUOTE Looks like the painting is not in the overall scores (thanks for pointing this out to me actually, 4 less trueborn i have to worry about painting and more time for study!0. Painting appears to be covered by a separate prize for players choice! I like! Bingo. We kept finding when it got close to an event almost all the people that pulled out were doing so because they were not going to be able to paint their army in time. So we moved it to a seperate section so there was no worry about that and it also ment that the people who are not that good a painting also have a better chance at getting up in the rankings. Probably a good thing too, ive been attempting to get everything finished but the weather here has made it almost imposable to undercoat anything! Ive had to strip back my Sternguard veteran Sgt 2 times already due to his undercoat turning bumpy! Probably a good thing too, ive been attempting to get everything finished but the weather here has made it almost imposable to undercoat anything! Ive had to strip back my Sternguard veteran Sgt 2 times already due to his undercoat turning bumpy! Yep, same boat. I've held off painting what I've got left of my dark eldar as I'm not prepared to risk spraying in this chilly weather. I'm more than happy to be no contention for players choice type stuff with only 2/3 of my stuff done, and also not suffer points loss for painting. I'd rather catch up and play some games instead this weekend, and take my time and be ready for Terracon next month. -------------------- |
