“Mourn not overmuch! Mighty was the fallen, meet was his ending. When his mound is raised, women then shall weep. War now calls us!”
Lord of the Rings strategy battle game will be running at WinterCon this June. 650 points, 8 rounds, 3 days with bonus Heroes and Monsters rounds for those interested. I'm taking expressions of interest for now, seeing as how the flyers haven't been printed yet On the plus side, I've already secured prize support from Mind Games Civic (massive props there) and Milsims. -------------------- 2nd place in a tourney! Best I've ever come. After all, I would have been first if Ringwraith hadn't been there.
Check out my terrain blog here! Will be updated regularly. I hope. |

LotR details are as follows:
Each Round, players will compete against their opponent in the scenario for that round. Rounds are two hours for the standard game and 30 minutes for the H&M game. The H&M competition is separate from the standard competition. You will need one Army of 650 points. Each army must adhere to the composition rules of Legions of Middle Earth. You will also need a Heroes and Monsters Army of 500 points. This army does not need to be the same alignment or base list as your 650 point army. This army will be used in a special Heroes & Monsters scenario. Only figures of at least 50 points minimum cost are allowed, so 1 to 10 figures. You may select any figures from one alignment - Good or Evil. Legions Alliance restrictions are not enforced. You are still restricted on named figures. Rules: The Blue 2nd Edition hardback rules are to be used. Only White Dwarf articles published from issue 309 onwards are valid. All supplements published up to March 2009 are available. Gollum and Tom Bombadil are not allowed. The Spider Queen is to be regarded as a Unique Creature - you are only allowd one in your army. Player Notes: Players are encouraged to design a balanced army - the scenarios will test speed, endurance, Heroic actions and Army morale. Every effort will be made to ensure that tables have both Woods templates and Cliff/walls terrain. Woods templates will be diced for at the start of each game - roll a d6. The result is the distance in inches that may be seen "into" in the woods. Players will be using the terrain placement protocols of the scenarios. Some scenarios will encourage a large army (Domination), others encourage finesse (To Kill a King) or speed (Storm the Camp) Heroes & Monsters is designed to bring out the models you normally never play. Mumakil, Sauron, Balrog, 2 dragons or a fistful of Nazgul - these are viable. (Yes, I stole this all from Nigel Slater, with permission) I'm happy to take any notes and/or suggestions, seeing as how I've only ever been a player and not an organiser so far. I've already picked the scenarioes based on how I know how they play and what I personally enjoyed. -------------------- 2nd place in a tourney! Best I've ever come. After all, I would have been first if Ringwraith hadn't been there.
