[WFB] Fantasy Celt/Scot marauder army, 28/4 All Done Options Rating

For ages I have been looking at alternative miniatures to use in this fair game of ours. Whilst I like the GW models, I get tired of seeing 'stock' armies just rolling off the production line; I like to see heavily converted armies or armies from alternative ranges.
Warlord Games make some awesome ancients plastics, and whilst they're not as well detailed as the GW models, they're much better value for money. Besides, in a horde you don't really look at the minute details. Their celt models were pretty cool, and I came up with an army theme that uses them.

I decided to use them to make a (completely anarchronistic) army of celts with all the things you'd expect to see in a tacky scottish-themed pub (if such a thing existed). Think kilts, tartan and bagpipes- known as Tartanry. Being (at some point) of scottish anscestry, I decided to try and work my family tartan and arms into the army design.
The arms are shown:

I'll be putting the tower on top of my standard poles.
The tartan (as best as I can remember and find on google images) looks a bit like Royal Stewart but with more blue. At least that's how it looks to my eyes untrained in the intricacies of tartan weaving.

Unfortunately, with apparent disrespect to my anscestors, I decided that red, green and yellow would look more striking, so I'm going with that for now.

The army is going to be a Warriors of Chaos army, featuring two hordes of marauders (based on the WF celts, with sculpted kilts). The army will be backed up by a bunch of chariots, dogs and two warshrines. I'm only using minimal casters and minimal armour (for theme, really). It's loosly following what I can find on historical celtic warfare, but I know there are plenty of errors, both visually and in terms of military funtioning. Please, any historical wargamers out there, I know it's not accurate. It doesn't need correcting. It is first and foremost a fantasy army, inspired by roughly historical ideas.

I have had a similar idea using the same miniatures from Warlord games (but without the kilts/tartan).

I was going to us the Druids as my Spellcasters.

I also have a pile of Warlord Games Early Imperial Romans I am tempted to use to make an Empire Army.

Ok, finally, an update! I had my head down to get the first part of this army (1500 pts) ready for ConVic on 2nd/3rd July. I put together a list that I thought I could manage, but had it KBed fro being too hard! So I've decided to go with an old army and keep this one on the burner.
On the plus side, I'll be able to take more time on these guys. That, and I can get some photos up!

My lord. Currently on his foot base, but made so that he can be slotted onto a chario. Like all the characters will.

Lots of WIP so far, but you get the idea. I should have it dont within the month I think.

I would say you are off to a great start!

Inspiring stuff to be sure. The bagpipe conversions are good as are the kilts and basing.

Maybe you could model the war shrines with the stones magically levitating to show movement?

I really like the Lord conversion!

Have you watched "Centurion" or "The Eagle" yet?

Been looking at pictures of Chariots for my own conversion. Looks like many have the reins running through the yolk and then to the bit, so just run one like that

HEre are some pictures of the finished army. Most people say they never finshi an army, but the concept is my favourite part of a force so I'm moving onto new things.

The BSB in his chariot, with another of the generic chariots off to the right. I really like the dude haning out the side there- a cool sculpt from Warlord! All I did was add a brass spear.

I ended up taking the army to Book of Grudges last year. A great event, and the army didnt' go too baly considering how lop-sided the build is (I was trying to let theme dictate build, not the other way around!).
I think I won 3 or 4 games form 6, but I took away Best Painted, which I was pretty pleased with.

I'll let you know if I do anything else for the army.
