Michael vs Simon

Simon looks in trouble. He had a first Turn opening with Michael Eldrad out of position but did not take it.

Stuart vs Matt

Still too close at the moment. But Stuart looks out of position.

Well done everyone! Some really nice armies and fun games all round.

My best sport goes to the guy who made my burger and had to put up with my stupid questions.

Cheers for having me Denis and thanks to all the dudes who turned up to support EH's first event!!!

Thank you Denis for the well-run and organised tournament, had such a great weekend.

And to all my opponents, being my first tournament you were all very patient and helpful which was much appreciated. Thanks to you I'll surely be entering more tournaments from here on in.

Ya it was Footdar instead McGowan tongue.gif. Woopsie.

Ask Dennis about my fail in Game 3 against Wayne though. I didn't tap my strike squad to hold an objective and thus lost of VP >.<. Fail. Michael played well though and was a great game though we both need to invest in new dice tongue.gif.

Next time don't forget to come down eh?

Well done Dennis and congrats to all the major prize winners.

You think that was bad? At Cancon Jasonc had me beat; except for his guard army not being entirely within my deployment zone and my last 3 remaining squads had just deepstriked into his right at the end of the game giving me the win.

yeah those dam elves can be tricksy tongue.gif

i'll be there next time for sure, i find with no comp events everything is much more relaxed and is a really enjoyable atmosphere.

even had vince asking me to come down, but just couldnt, and been kicking myself since armata_PDT_07.gif

Would have been good to have you down Josh.

You're right about a more relaxed atmosphere - much less criying over cheese -in fact, I don't think anyone felt hard done by, particulalry as most armies s3ee3med to follow a well worn pattern of a good HQ or 2, triple heavy, and then efficient list building.

Was nothing like what I used to fear for no comp events, althouigh of course we're all used to playing comp'd style events which no doubt impacts our model choices, particularly painted ones.

There was only a couple of fully mechanised lists, which were guard armies, and none of the wolves went all the way to razorspam, for eg (although I did face a SW army with 3 plazerbacks for his 3 LF squads (who stayed out) - he out gunned me convincingly when flubbed target selection after seizing the initiative)

I thought for the most part our lists were of comparable strength. At times I felt low on anti tank but I reckon I could have simply played better in at least 2 of my losses to turn things around. My list was absolutely brutal vs poor Glen's Bloodcrusher spam army- but I had fun in that game and had done well by myself.

Denis ran things well. I liked his idea of randomly distributing minor prizes to around a dozen of us ("random" draw - we goit one entry per lost game, so my name would have been in there 3 times) - I picked up a $20 Iron Halo0 voucher even thogh I was well off the top 8 at ~26th place!

Good idea, I think I'll steal that for lords. One of the ideas of spreading the prize pool is less about rewarding the guys whop get to the top 10 and more about trying to spread the love in appreciation of people participating.

Thanks Denis, a nice event filling in the gap between BiV and Lords quite nicely...

Great weekend, I look forward to next year.
