I started this army for my son who quickly decided he liked Tau, so they are now mine. I started repainting them before the current codex come out. This meant I was painting them Space Wolves Blue. I dragged them out this week because I havenít played much 40k lately and Iím wanting to get a game in after the next fantasy tournament.
I have just based them and done the shoulder transfers, so they are good to go.

Here is the whole army, well the painted models anyway.
IPB Image
I have a Logan Grimnar model to lead the army. I picked him up at a tournament last year. He was painted a dark grey and I repainted this to space wolf grey to fit the rest of the army.

Here are the Rune Priests, one is Najal, the other is a kit bash. Both rune priests have lone icon poles and wolf head back packs. The little fellow next to Njal is the chooser of the slan.

Here are the Wolf Priests. One of the models is Ulrik, the other I have made up from the grey hunter spu. I plan on fitting the kit bash with a jet pack so he can go with the sky claws. I already have another 5 jetpacks and the blood claws to go with them. 9 sky claws with a WP will hurt almost any enemy unit.

I have built a number of wolf guard. Most of them have magnetised arms so I can target their impact. To help the guard stand out they all have icons on their backs and most are standing on rocks to give them some extra height.

Here is the wolf guard for the swift claws. I run him with a thunder hummer to give the unit some real hurting power.

The sky claws jet packs are also magnetised so I can run them with the blood claws.

The land speeders both have magnetised weapons and the typhoon missiles are not glued in so I can take them out if needed.

I have 3 rhinos painted, 2 of them still require some highlighting and transfers. I'll get to them one day I'm sure. All vehicles can have hunter killer missiles pinned to them as required.
IPB Image
Number 1 is set up as a std rhino.
IPB Image
IPB Image
Number 2 is an older model with dozer blade.
IPB Image
Number 3 is set one up as a razorback. I have found the assault cannon gives me a good balance. Whenever I run a lascannon it just becomes too much of a target.

I run 2 long fang squads. I find that 2 is needed against a number of the armies I fight.

Well that’s the end of the painted models, I also have these ones partly painted:
1 Ragnar model to be converted;
1 iron priest (in bits);
1 thunder wolf;
1 pack of terminators;
2 packs of scouts;
1 pack of blood claws;
2 packs grey hunters;
1 rhino;
2 dreds; and
2 drop pods still in boxes.
Hopefully I will get back to them. I only ever seriously paint the army I’m playing so there is always hope I will finish them.

I had a 40k game on the weekend the doggies won, love playing against orcs. This time it was a mech list from one of the special books. Tin cans were core and there were 2 amour 13, and 2 amour 12 dreds. Luckily they had to come in from the other side of the table and I could chomp them as they came over. So I fielded a dred for the first time in years. After the game I decided he needed painting so here he is so far. I also magnetised the middle so he came turn on the spot, its just fun.

Brilliant! The only thing you need to low the tone of the deep blue on the power axe, bolters and bases etc it what lets them down and makes then comical!

He didn't get shot by the police. Two guys got into a fight, one drew a gun, fired and missed who he was aiming at. A guy down the road, nothing to do with the incident got hit in the shoulder by the stray bullet. The cosmos rolled a 1 on that one.

Well I managed some time for painting and the wolves got the nod. The drop pods have been under coated for a couple of weeks now but as I wanted to spray them I need some time set aside. I found it this week end.
IPB Image
IPB Image

I did a test build where I just put it together without glue. This gave me an idea of where it all fitted.
IPB Image

The spray worked well. I was a bit worried about this as I have not sprayed anything for nearly a year. After some adjusting with the mix it went very well. I did manage to break my mini filter though.

I also managed to undercoat another 3 thunder wolves. These guys came so you can fit different halves together, this increases the variety. You can also fit any head or tail so you have even more modelling options
IPB Image

I hope to finish the first drop pod next weekend so stay turned.
