Infinity has to be one of the best table top games going around at the moment. While I wouldn't refer to myself as an anime fan, I was drawn to the game through the amazing sculpts. Initially the rules can be fairly daunting and I'll admit that I was completely overwhelmed at first, but once you get the hang of things the game can be both really enjoyable and rewarding (well... as rewarding as sitting around a table playing with toy soldiers can be).

I'm currently in the process of collecting both Combined Army (the aliens) and Ariadna. I'm also building a large amount of terrain. So, I thought I would finally get around to putting together a modelling/painting diary to keep myself motivated...

Suryat Paint Scheme:
The top half was a small amount of Fenris Grey and Scaly Green, then predominately Dheneb Stone. More Dheneb Stone was added to the mix with each layer, and then Bleached Bone was added to the mix for the last layer. A thin highlight of Bleached Bone was done at the end.

The legs were a small amount of Scab Red and Scorched Brown, then predominately Dheneb Stone. Again more Dheneb Stone being added to the mix with each layer.
The upper legs area was left as it was once the final layer painted, the lower area was then given a thinned down 50/50 mix of Devlan Mud and Thraka Green.

There was probably about four or five layers on each area, not including the final highlight.

Just jumped into the game myself with Aleph and Combine. I completely agree with how you found the rules/system daunting at first, the rule book is not laid out that well but eventually it gets easier. Still trying to crack it myself.

Lovely painting mate and quite a nice scheme, kind of between desert and urban camo in a way. The layering is very smooth and effective.

Liking the basing as well, looks like you have stamped a layer of putting with a grill or something. Synthetic desert? lol Whatever it is, I like it.

Will be following this thread mate, keep em coming smile.gif

That armour looks brilliant.

What colours are you using? Washes or blending?

If the Army Builder on the Infinity site doesn't load in your browser you can download it from the Devil Team website.

The big revelation for me was the Wiki links coming off the Army Builder.
That way the rules are explained in context, much better than in the book.
It also all comes together in a logical order once you get the models on the table, its history as an RPG makes for a continuous narrative flow that is unusual in a mandolly game.

Great tartan, and the bases look awesome. Only suggestion is maybe pick out the details on the faces a bit more, and distinguish where the flesh meets the clothing?

Hope to see these at cancon in a couple of months!

Caledonian Volunteers - Ariadna

These are some of my favourite looking models for the Ariadna range. So despite having the worst shooting value in the force, they keep finding their way into every list I write.

Thanks again! Yeah, I think it could be due to a few of them having stubble painted on their faces which combined with inability to take a decent photo (even after buying a decent camera) the faces aren't looking that great on here. I will say that coming from painting predominately GW figures to these, my painting is actually starting to improve a lot.

Definitely. Hopefully I can make the trip to Cancon. I think I need a lot practice in between now and then. My Caledonians have only managed to knock up a single win so far.

My favourite scots too - great models. And it may just have been the photos in the previous lot, 'cause the volunteers are painted great.

Don't worry too much about getting in games before cancon - it's somewhat of a tradition to turn up without having played much, as i can attest to!

They may have low stats but any clown with a rifle can ruin anyone's day...not to mention chain rifles!

Looking fantastic, I'm finishing up my Military Orders right now.
Making me keen to get on to Ariadna.

Where'd you pull the spare HMG's for the volunteers?

That theory seems to work for both my generic Ariadna and Morats, but my Caledonian sectorial doesn't seem to be able to hit anything. My opponents seem to have a habit of surviving Chain Rifle fire and shooting me dead for the effort. sad.gif

Make sure you post some pics, I wouldn't mind seeing them.

Haha, by accident. I bought the Grey Rifle with HMG and tried to change his pose, which ended in disaster. So I then had a spare HMG. The other one I got a Veteran Kazak with HMG and just did a weapon swap seeing I had the spare rifle from the Tank Hunter pack.

I am honestly thinking about running a Volunteer Link Team all kitted out with HMGs... It'll only cost 100 points and 2.5 SWC. Which is a bargain when adding the +1 Burst, SSL2 and +3 BS.

Yeah that could potentially be very disgusting tongue.gif

You could also do ... 20 guys with rifles for 100 points.

That would be the brown pants moment for me.

At least one HMG on the one Linked Team, though, for sure...and have another Linked Team with one HMG ready to start up when the first gets shot.

Most of a Linked Team are there for support so a mix works better.

I'd crank through what you want to paint and see what you have left.

?? Where?

cheapest you get is 6 Point Highlander with Chain rifle or 6 Point Volunteer with chain Rifle.

You could have 12 guys with rifles for 100 points...
