Hi All,

Years ago when GW employees could order bitz based on weight of postage I picked up a couple of armies for next to nothing. With the embargo on third party resellers shipping to the southern hemisphere, I decided to dig out one of these armies. I have 80 odd metal tanith figures, so thats the start.

Here is the original test model.

And first batch painted figures.

What sort of camera are you using for the shots Dave?

Those are nice photo's of the models.

You going with a list based on the books or will it be net list veterans in Valkyries like everone else?

The tattoos are a bit daunting, anyone know of examples where they were done really well?

Camera is a Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD, picked it up a couple of years ago for $500NZD.
Super Macro is boss for mini photos.

The list will vary, will be doing some extensive playtesting over the next year in prep for ATC '12...

The tats are actually very easy if you keep to simple shapes...

Arm Bands, 'sun' tats around an eye etc. A dark blue with a light blue highlight works well. I did some way back when I was new to painting they looked fine cause I stuck to simple patterns.

A hatching pattern on arms/wrists works well too.

There is a guy in Sydney has a Tanith army, converting the heads is the best bet for the actual characters too... He has a Larkin with a female head swap for Banda (and some extra GS hair) which looks really good.

Im sure with your painting skills you wouldnt be adverse to a little converting?

Cool stuff, I think the eyes on the last chick with the meltagun are a huge improvement over the original test model.

I think these were some of the best GW guard models made, so much individual detail. and you are doing an amazing job on them. I love the wood grain looks amazing, one issue that i have with it is that it should be the stock that is wood not the weapon shroud.

The only reason that i say this is that it was a major difference between the original Tanith born ghosts and those recruited from Vurvenhive (however you spell it, leave me alone, it doesn't even exist). The Tanith ghosts has Nal-wood stocks while the Vurvenhive ghosts had steel wire folding stocks like the lasgun on the chimera sprue that and they had different cap badges.

other than that, i cannot flaw them.

Ask and you may receive smile.gif

Tanith Pics

Looking good so far, agree that tats would be good. Spirals are a good one.

I'm that guy from Sydney BTW, and the conversion is actually Nessa biggrin.gif

Still not finished with them yet, after reading the latest book i've got an urge to convert up a marching band, and cyber eagle mascot, and maybe some more commissars, and some boarding ghosts, and a blood pact prisoner, and Gaunt's <spoiler alert> .......
