Queensland Northern Knights 40k Intraclub 2012 Player Pack The QNK 40k intraclub is an annual event held by the club, for the club. It is a member only event (so if you haven’t got your membership, I recommend you join up now!) to encourage a day of friendly and competitive gaming. Date: Saturday 10th March Venue: Caboolture Combined Services Hall, 21 Hayes Street Caboolture Cost: $5 for QNK MEMBERS ONLY or $25 (can join on the day) Army List Specifications: - Army Lists will be comprised of 1250pts - The army may be selected from all standard, current codecies. Your force can also include Chapter approved, Imperial Armour and other such “unofficial” codecies like Kroot Mercs, Lost and the Damned, etc with TO (myself) permission. If you would like to use one such “unofficial” unit/force, please contact me at least 2 weeks prior to the event so I can investigate and get back to you, in addition you must bring a copy of the appropriate rules for your opponents reference. - Each player must bring appropriate rulebooks, tape measures, dice and other such gaming equipment. Times and Game Length: - Rego will be from 7:30am -7:45am. Late arrivals will have to miss their first game and get no game points. If you know you’re going to be late prior to the event, please contact myself and we can sort something out. - There will be 4 games played over a single day. - Game 1 will be allowed 2hrs and 20 minutes, and 10 min breaks between all games. There will be a callout when you have one hour left, 30 minutes left and 10 minutes. If your match report sheets are not submitted in time, both players will get no battle points for the match. (see game scoring below). - Lunch is 20 mins, I know its short but if we want to play more games, we eat less. I could do a food run (Pie shop nearby) for gamers leading up to this lunch break. If all goes well we should finish and be ready to leave by 6:45pm. The faster you all play, the earlier we can pack up and you lot get trophies! Painting and Modeling Specification: - Your army does not have to be fully painted; however there will be a small painting score to encourage gamers to paint their forces and to reward those who do. - Your army must comply with the guidelines of “What you see is What you get”, where your force is appropriately modeled with the correct weapons and wargear. Conversions and other such thematic situations are acceptable (Chads Gobbo Guard for example). This won’t be too strict given it is within the club, a power fist as a power sword is ok, but a rhino as a land raider and the like is not. Just clearly explain what your conversions are to your opponent prior to gaming. - I will personally be marking painting! It will be rather easy to get a high painting score. If you use 3+ colours, do some drybrushing/highlighting, base your models and maybe do a conversion or two you’ll get an easy 6/8. The last 2 points are for special unit sized conversions, shading, blending and extensive highlights and more difficult painting techniques. Missions: -There will be 4 Alternative Missions that are evolved from the Standard Rulebook missions. They will use a unique deployment method with standard mission type OR they will use standard deployment with alternative mission. Game Scoring: - 70% Battle (14pts per game, 56 total) - 20% Comp (4pts per game, 16 total) - 10% Painting (2pts per game, 8 total) - There will be no Sports as we are all a friendly club and we’d all just get top scores anyways! Wouldn’t we Victory Condition Breakdown: Win - 10 Victory Points Draw - 5 Victory Points Loss - 0 Victory Points 4 Bonus Points: Kill the Enemy highest point HQ – 1 Have a Scoring unit completely within your opponents deployment zone - 1 Reduce your opponents force down to/or below 25% of starting models – 1 Completely Destroy enemy Highest point Unit - 1 Tournament Style: - It will use the Swiss Chess method. The first game will be a random draw, following this you will be seeded depending on your total battle score. Most important Rule: This is a friendly club tourney designed for everyone to have fun and enjoy some games! For any enquiries please post in this thread or PM myself. In order for myself and others to determine how many will be attending, please post in this thread as to whether you believe you will come. It does not have to be definite and anyone can arrive for 7:30am Rego in the morning with a force and still play, but it will help greatly if you let us all know early! Intraclub Missions ENTER SANDMAN Exit light, enter night Objective: Move forwards under cover of darkness and destroy the enemy. Deployment: Spearhead – Table quarters (p.93). Special rules: Deep Strike, Enter Night (see below), Infiltrators, Reserves, Scouts. Enter Night: Roll at the start of each game turn to see if night falls, starting on Turn 2. The odds are exactly as per a reserve roll. On Turn 2, night falls on a roll of 4+. Night falls on Turn 3 on a roll of 3+, or on Turn 4 on a roll of 2+. Night automatically falls on Turn 5 if it has not done so already. Once night has fallen, Night Fighting rules (p.95) are in effect for the remainder of the game. Game length: Between 5 and 7 turns (Ending the Game, p.90). Victory: Kill points, as per Annihilation (p.91). Draw: If each player has the same number of kill points, the game is a draw. EYE OF THE TIGER It's the thrill of the fight Objective: Seize the enemy's supplies, but beware of the unstable hazard in the region... Deployment: Dawn of War – Table halves (p.91). After deciding deployment zones, but before deploying any unit, each player places one objective (60mm) in their own deployment zone as per the rules for Capture and Control (p.91). Special rules: Deep Strike, Eye of the Tiger (see below), Infiltrators, Reserves, Scouts, Night Fighting (Turn 1 only). Eye of the Tiger: Place a Blast Marker of Doom in the centre of the table at the start of the battle. You may use a standard 3" blast marker, a vortex marker from Apocalypse, or a modelled 3" template e.g. with a xeno threat (Syd!), or crackling force lines, etc. The Blast Marker of Doom moves at the start of each game turn (not player turn), including Turn 1. It scatters 1D6", even on a HIT. If the marker scatters off the table, remove it. The Blast Marker does not block line of sight or grant cover. Any unit touched by the Blast Marker of Doom is affected as if by a Deep Strike Mishap (p.95). Even if only one model is touched, the whole unit is affected. Note that this mishap can also affect vehicles. Units who are destroyed (1-2 result) get no save of any kind. Remove them. Units who are misplaced (3-4 result) do not count as deep striking in their turn. They may move and act normally. Units who are placed in reserve (5-6 result) come on from their own table edge when available. They cannot come on via deep strike. Game length: Between 5 and 7 turns (Ending the Game, p.90) Victory: The player who controls the most objectives is the winner. Controlling an objective is as described in Capture and Control (p.91) Draw: Both opponents control one objective each, or neither controls any objectives. TAKE A LONG LINE This is it folks, over the top Objective: Push into No Man's Land to capture forward positions. Deployment: Spearhead – Table quarters (p.93). This mission is a modified version of Seize Ground (p.91). There are 5 objectives. Before choosing table quarters, place the first objective marker in the centre of the table. Roll a scatter die near the objective marker, and use the arrow to draw a line across the table. Place two more objectives on each side of the line at 12" intervals. Note that the usual rule that an objective cannot be placed within 12" of any board edge does not apply to this mission. When you are finished, you will have five objectives in a line across the table. When the objectives have been placed, roll off to choose quarters as per the rules for Spearhead (p.93). The objective line crosses two of the table quarters. Players cannot choose a quarter which contains objectives. Players must choose the opposing two quarters as their starting deployment zones. Special rules: Deep Strike, Infiltrators, Reserves, Scouts. Game length: Between 5 and 7 turns (Ending the Game, p.90). Victory: The player who controls the most objectives is the winner. Controlling an objective is as described in Seize Ground (p.91) Draw: The game is a draw if both players control the same number of objectives, or if neither player controls any. LAST ACTION HERO He was full of machismo! Objective: Follow your inspirational leader forwards to kill the enemy commander. Deployment: Dawn of War – Table halves (p.91). Nominate a HQ character as your commander. Your commander must be deployed as the single HQ unit stipulated in the Dawn of War deployment rules. The commander cannot be placed in reserve for this mission; he or she is a goddam hero, and must start on the table. The only exception are commanders who must be placed in reserve (e.g. Daemons, where the commander may arrive in the first or second wave). In this case, treat any reserve roll involving a commander as an automatic success. (Thus, for Daemons, if the commander is not in the first wave, then he or she automatically arrives at the start of Turn 2 without needing to roll 4+). Special rules: Deep Strike, Infiltrators, Night Fighting (Turn 1 only), Scouts, Reserves, Ballsy Ballsy: Your commander is ballsy. The commander earns double kill points for any units he or she wipes out; to gain this bonus, he or she must strike the killing blow (i.e. kill the last model in the unit, remove the last wound on a character, destroy the vehicle, etc.) Game length: Between 5 and 7 turns (Ending the Game, p.90) Victory: Kill points, as per Annihilation (p.91). Each commander is worth 5 kill points. Other units are worth 1 kill point each. Note that if a commander kills a commander, the player earns 10 kill points, as per the double kill points rule noted above. If both commanders kill each other at the same initiative, both earn kill 10 points. Draw: If each player has the same number of kill points, the game is a draw.
