Now that we are going to have mainstream access to the thunderpuppies, what do you think is going to be the best layout for them?
I'm probably going to be jamming them into my 1850 as an expendable assault unit of three with a power weapon. How are you going to configure yours? -------------------- Vulkan's Corner

Single wolf with Storm shield power fist its like 105 pts and is a relevant threat to just about anything. Doesnt die too easily and has massive threat range.

I have 3 PF/SS ones in my list, they are reasonably resilient, and are throwaway threats to everything.
Otherwise do a big 4-5 puppy block, with PF, SS, meltabomb SS, bp/pw -------------------- CENTURION

For a small unit- 3 with a storm shield and a thunderhammer
for a big unit- 5 with 2 storm shields, 1 melta bomb, and a thunderhammer. Then sprinkle abit more wound allocation for good measure.(bolters etc. etc.) Also hadn't really thought of the single thunderwolf with fist. But to me its a liability. Easy killpoint. But in every other mission it would go off like a frog in a sock. -------------------- tintaman on player behaviour.....

single tooled up wolf lord on a thunderwolf is boss as boss can boss. give him 2 of those stupid little dog things and its even worse Yes he's great but if it's just him and his two little friends the unit is now average T4 so maybe he want to bring some friends along. I'd go wolf lord, mount, necklace, storm shield (runic armour is personal choice) TH and frost blade or thunder hammer. with two fen wolves. Saga of the bear is great and warrior born on paper seems good but only sometimes pays off. Attach him to a unit that is 3-4 strong with at least one storm shield, thunder hammer and wound allocation the rest. They have quite a big footprint, so I have always run a unit of 4. Now that plastic ones are coming I plan on running 3 units of 4. The fluff bunny inside me never liked the idea of wound allocation shenanigans, but the gamer inside me just wants to abuse it big time!
I usually equip one with a storm shield, and another with a thunderhammer. -------------------- Leela: wow, aren't you Zapp Brannigan? you stopped the fleet of kill bots, right? how did you do it?
Zapp: it was simple really. Kill-bots have a preset "kill limit", once they reach this limit, they shut down. knowing their weakness, i just sent wave after wave of our own men into battle against them, once they killed them all, they were effectively shut down. |

The fluff bunny inside me never liked the idea of wound allocation shenanigans, but the gamer inside me just wants to abuse it big time! You can justify it to your fluff bunny quite easily. Wound allocation mean you have situations where each of them is still fighting on despite the wounds they've suffered. Enemy fire is hitting the entire squad, just not focussing on one dude (especially when hit by blast weapons). |
