Hey Guys.

Been looking at the Beach Landing List for Americans in Turning tide.

You can take Naval Gunfire support as an artillary choice, it says to refer to the across the Volga rule for its use.

I cant seemto find this rule in the new rule book for V3.

any help on its location?

The similar rules don't appear to exist in my V3 booklet either. Not in Artillery, not in Deployment, and not in Mission Special Rules (which is where Across the Volga previously appeared)

To recap the rule:

"You may deploy any platoon capable of firing an artillery bombardment 'across the Volga' rather than right in the front line. If you do so, the guns, command team, and staff team are not placed on the table. Only the observers are placed on the table as normal. You still use the normal spotting and ranging rules when firing your artillery.

Artillery held off the table in this manner have the range and field of fire to hit any target on the table.

As your artillery units are not on the table, they do not count as being on the table for Company Morale Checks. Simply ignore any artillery positioned 'Across the Volga' when calculating whether your company is below half strength." (Flames of War rulebook v2, p225)

For the Naval Gunfire Support, you don't have to place a Cruiser on the board, all you need is is one NGFS Observer team. He counts as the observer for the ship's four Confident Trained guns (with no staff team) that are sitting off board. They have range and field of fire to any point on the board, but don't count as a platoon when calculating Company Morale.
