Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone has done (or seen it done) a Barrel swap for the Basilisk/Medusa. Effectively I have three Medusa's at the moment (unbuilt) and I want to get three Basilisk barrels and build it so that I can simply swap the barrels out. The models are the Armageddon Enclosed version so that will most likely hide any minor mismatches and the like. Although I am also thinking of getting three Basilisk platforms and doing the same to them, so they can be either Medusa or Basilisk. Initial idea is to put a magnet on either side of the Barrel and the gun housing where they normaly 'click' together. My worry is though that the barrel will simply rotate down on the magents and not stay upright.... no viagra jokes please. Any thoughts? cheers Dono -------------------- |

With strong enough magnets, you should be fine. 6mm dia 1.5mm thick rare earth magnets have an enormous hold to each other, and I'm sure they could hold the barrel in place well (theres even bigger magnets available too, but I think this would be big enough for the plastic barrel).
If you need a strong hold, it may be best to drill out part of the plastic on each part, so the magnet slots into the hole where the plastic was, and then they have direct contact with each other. I've never built one of these before, but I think with a bit of creative thinking, you should be right to find a way to magnetize it. Rare earth magnets are quite small and so strong, and with a drill bit to drill holes for them, you can do almost anything if you have the patience for it. -------------------- |
