Hey gang,

THe tournament will be taking place on 9/6/12.

KICKOFF: 9AM (If you could be there a little earlier that would be awesome!)

ROUNDS: 3 rounds, each lasting 2 hours 15 minutes. Extra fifteen minutes during round 2 for lunch.

REGO: From 8:30

SCHEDULE:
ROUND 1 : 9:00 to 11:15
ROUND 2: 11:30 to 2:00
ROUND 3: 2:15 to 4:30
PACK UP AND PRESENTATION: 4:30 to 5:00

POINTS/LISTS: 2000. No restrictions on lists, but over competative will be frowned upon... armata_PDT_33.gif

SCORING: Victory Points. 200 point breaks starting at 10:10 and ending 20:0. Full info on scoring sheets.
There will be painting scores 10% and sports 15% - but most players should get full sports. Ergo, match scores make up 75% total scores.

COST: $5 for cluub members. Memberships will be available on the day for $20.

Any questions feel free to post!

just do like 2250pts or 2500pts, 3 games ( 3 rounds ), kill each other for 6 turns add up victory pts done. don't do good vs evil comes a long boring day. just do as normal fisrt round swiss chesse then go off the ladder for the next 2 rounds

I'm inclined to agree with Dave on this one.

It's the first Fantasy event in quite a while so I feel simple is by far the best option.

2250-2500 would be my preference but I personally don't mind. Though I would suggest at least 2000pts.

Good vs Evil would be great for theme, but given Fantasy isn't a major system at the club any more I doubt that you'd have an even mix, making it harder for yourself to run. Also it would remove some players from having the option to play each other which may bother some if they wanted to grudge but only had 1 army to choose from and they were both on the same side of the good/evil divide.

I just feel 3 games, standard points, bash each other. Simple and good fun for the first fantasy event for the club in years!

OK, a few things, I was in a hurry for my first post...

2000 points - after talking to some of the (admitedly younger) members, 2000 is about the max that some people can make up using what they have already. With a tounrmanet like this I feel its important to get as many people playing as possible, so i think its fairer than saying buy more models or borrow them to get to the limit. It's also really, really easy to work out % for victory points. I understand people have developed competative lists/combos but really, thats not what the day should be abount (IMVHO).

Good vs Evil - I'm not sure how this would make the day boring... Basically the two teams, we add up victory points for each side after each round, the side with the least amount of points chooses opponents for next round. With such small tournaments i think its a good way to ensure a. that the same regular opponents are not playing each other and b. fun and interesting match ups can be made. The amount of draw rigging to avoid/grudge mates that happens at these club events anyways it wouldnt make much difference! Pete Martindale recommended it - its what he has done at him Flames of War meets and it works well.

I agree with no scenarios, pitched battle/victory points being the easiest way to play.

Basically, I think that we can balance keeping it simple with having some fun and including the most amount of players. If you guys just want a straight, staid tourney then we can go with it. Totally happy to go with the flow here!

My only concern with Good Vs Evil is "do we have equal Good Vs Evil" Because if we don't it'll kind of mess the whole idea up, or force people to borrow or use other armies which defeats the purpose really.

Otherwise the Good v Evil thing is interesting enough and means every round is essentially a grudge match haha.

It doesn't need to be rigid... Ogres and Khemri are 'nuetral' anyways and can go either way, and hey maybe my Empire is seduced by the foul chaos powers to fight for the forces of evil unknowingly, or maybe daemons wishing to spread chaos attack their evil allies etc...

It's basically a convenient way of dividing two teams. wink.gif

So...

There will be a few 2000 point practice games going on on Friday night. If you are keen on playing, or wouldn't mind giving a few newbies or people getting back into the game a learnign game, bring up a 2000 point list (or two, if you don't mind lending an army) and lets have some games.

Is it stupid to have a list of which 50% of your points are dedicated to 4 Character models? Or is this how Fantasy works? haha

Well its at the limit for 25% Lord, limit for 25% Hero and about 45% Core, with about 5% Rare. It works i suppose.

Just leaves me light on the ground with cannon fodder, but i suppose at 12pts each for core troops, what do you expect haha.

I think my list will be about 7.5% lords and 15 % heroes... But my i often run 25% Lords man, don't stress.

Of course that buys me a kitted out level 4 and a lector on an alter at 2400, but. wink.gif

haha at 2200 25% Lords gets me my unit eating machine known as Fabio. He often leaves combat with more health than he went in! However, at this 2000pts I can't do that, which makes me sad, very sad. I hope he still works ok without it.
