Scarlet had one back in the 60s (1967) - but it was also featured in the 2005 CGI newer series.

The Valiant is a recent addition to Dr Who. It shares many similarities to Cloudbase (Scarlet) and was first shown in 2007.

"Originally designed by Jack Kirby for the Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. serial in Strange Tales #135 (August 1965)"

A little pre-modern Dr Who.

Avengers HelliCarrier. S.H.I.E.L.D has a whole fleet of those suckas in the comic books. 1965 strange tails 1965 predates your Captain Scarlet 1967 by a few years.
But cant we all just agree that flying carriers are just boss and move on??

And apparently there are no electronics or vital components between any of the decks.
