Hi all, looking for feedback on ogre list for upcoming tournament. 2400 points and I believe it is comped.

Unit Equipment
Slaughtermaster level 4, fencer's blades, glittering scales, dragon pendant
Bruiser ironfist, heavy armour, BSB, crown of command, dragonhelm
Firebelly level 2, dispel scroll, great weapon
7 ogres M, SB, ironfists
10 ironguts M, SB, std discipline
12 gnoblars trappers
4 leadbelchers
1 sabertusk
1 sabertusk
3 mournfang cavalry M, SB, dragonhide std, ironfists, heavy armour
1 ironblaster
1 Stonehorn

TOTAL 2400

Intention would be to stick SM and Bruiser/BSB with ironguts and firebelly with ogres.
Do I need a runemaw? Too "hard" a list?

you need to protect your bsb more mate, the LD of the army needs those rerolls, and if he dies, in your case it takes the stubborn AND the bsb away

I just give my BSB the Armour of Destiny on the reasoning anyone gunning for him is just gonna blow through his armour save.
Pass the crown to the Slaughtermaster, hand him the dispell scroll and then give him a ward save. Take the Hellheart on the Firebelly and hold it until you are guts deep in the opponents army.
Additionally I don't see the point of the trappers in this list. If you where gonna go all out with the shooting then your army might justify sitting behind a row of trappers and letting rip, but it seems to me your army is geared to go on the offensive and trappers are not gonna hold a flank for you.
Rest seems pretty solid, but I don't rate the Stonehorm except as a massive distraction for your opponent.

Yeah cheers, I might dispose of the trappers. They are really there as a cheap redirector, maybe something to stick in front of a big unit that I really don't want to face with my other units and hopefully force them to charge in and roll lots of 1s :-D

I might think about what you've said above. a 4+ ward save on the SM is probably a better option than WS10 and -1 to be hit - anything that bypasses a to hit roll will mean I could be in big trouble. Maybe even 4+ ward, 2+ ward vs flaming, dispel scroll, crown of command and a great weapon, 4+ ward armour on the BSB, and as you say the hellheart on the firebelly to hopefully wreck a magic phase (and get rid of gnoblars to pay the difference)

Oh, and stonehorn is 1) to try him out, and 2) because I've got the model, it's mostly painted, and it is too cool to leave out! I'm not necessarily going for the best optimised list, but I do want one that will be fun and competitive.

I would imagine the best optimised list would be something like:

SM
BSB
Firebelly (or butcher with Death)

10 bulls
8-10 ironguts

2- 3 sabertusks (in units of 1)
3 mournfang
3 mournfang

2 ironblasters

Well the Stonehorn is down to taste, I'd be careful where to place it though, you need to position it where it can wreck the most havoc, maybe talk up its role before and/or after the battle so your opponent gets really worried about it.

Pete seems to be havoing a lot of success with this list in the "Restricted Comp" used in the Horned Rat tournemant in NZ.
You can find the battle reports Here.
It's IMO a pretty all round army, and what ever you look to take, stone horns etc.. it's what works for you in the end that you should take.

Cheers Nasher. Interesting list ... quite a bit that is the same as my list, which is good to see, but also quite a few differences.

3 units of 2 mournfang - I might have to try that soon!
