QUOTE(Deb @ May 27 2012, 08:05 PM) *

Well if I get to organise the event, I will have to paint the trophy mechs myself. I was thinking of a Turkina for the Bloodname 1st place, a Nyight Gyr for 2nd, and a Black Lanner for 3rd place. I would probably use the colour scheme form Jade Falcon Mu Galaxy reference Mad Doc's Black Lanner. The Open Comp will have comparable IS mechs. I thought the Capellan Mechs would be good, as I can use the Yu Huang, Lao Hu, and Wraith in the something like the Shin Legion colours. The 3025 comp will have to be some stock standard classics - A Battlemaster, a Guillotine, and a Dervish in the classic Star League scheme as shown on the Erandi Light Horse mechs.

Sounds good.

But honestly, while it is cool to be part of a con atmosphere the recent experience we had of holding the tournament at the store was just as good because you don't often have the time to have a good wander around and look at all the other events happening.

If you are in good with the guy/gal who runs the store you play at (Hall of Heroes?), why not have it there? As I said you will have to deal with less bull###### & the profits will go straight into your bank account and not MOAB's. Sounds like WIN-WIN to me...

For those members who live in Sydney, and can get to Campbelltown, I want to start running Classic Battletech on a regular basis. At least one Sunday a month, but twice a month if I get more players. It will likely be a test bed for the 2013 Comp I intend to run.

I will initially get some datasheets for dozens of clan Omni-mechs of various configurations (laminated), bring along the appropriate mechs, and a good selection of maps. We can then play a number of rounds of one on one against each other, with Gunnery and pilot Score modified by the mechs BV2 value.

From there I will get each player to bring along a selection of 3025 mechs of a maximum tonnage. Legal variants only. They can then give up tonnage to modify the gunnery and pilot skills of mechs. The usual rules apply. I might even allow for vehicles and infantry , but there should be no more than one of each mech type. 2 of each vehicle, and 2 platoons of the same type of infantry. A minimum of 4 mechs should make it so players do not bring along a few assaults and max their gunnery / pilot skills.

Next we can then run a similar thing with open technology, but Clan front line and second line forces will have reduced tonnage. Front line have 3/4 skills so will have way less tonnage. The higher the tech, the less tonnage you get. Everyone except clan front line (omnis + battle armour) will be 4/5. second line can use vehicles, protos, battle armour a,d battlemechs but with I/S standard stats. You will be able to give up tonnage to reduce your stats as usual, but each tech will require a minimum number of units or mechs in the force.

If this all works out, then I will be able to run the 2013 event at the Hall of Heroes on the long October weekend very smoothly, and all those who come along to my games regularly will get some practice runs to try out different force mixes/ techs.

I was thinking of replacing the Bloodname trials with a Solaris VII match out. So this might be trialed as well.

If you want to come and get the ball rolling on this, and can possibly get to the Hall of Heroes at least once a Month on a Sunday, then leave me a message (PM) or reply to this thread.

Deb
