Crazy Apoc forces, Got a Crazy idea in my head, wondering whats yours ? Options

Gday all my fellow 40kers
Ive been building up my forces lately so im set for the next big event that comes up and part of it is some apoc forces for my armies.

Now ive got 2 reavers, 1 Warhound atm in bits plus other stuff but Last night re reading my Dark Apostle book i came along the idea of the Annointed.

now thats 221 termis of the Word Bearers and im now seriously thinking bout making this !!!!!!

has anyone else had some weird and wacky Apoc forces

I considered expanding my IG army to APoc size points.
It is entirely infantry.

Now I realise that even 1000 las guns couldn't do much to super heavies or titans, but 50-100 las canons, auto canons etc would be a very interesting round of shooting.

Wouldn't dream of trying to move them, moving 100 infantry is hard enough.

Would look bloody amazing considering my army is a mixed combined forces army, so heaps of different uniform types and colours.

Maybe one day, if I don't give up and sell the entire army

There's a couple of really good all-infantry Apoc formations. The Heavy Weapons Company (as mentioned, 12+ Heavy Weapon squads plus command), the Imperial Shield Infantry Company (1 Command Squad plus 3-6 Infantry Platoons), Lord Castellan's Supreme Command (4 Command Squads, one of which MUST contain Creed, a Lord Commissar, Techpriest Enginseer, Primaris Psyker & Ministorum Priest). They all give pretty good bonuses, especially the last two, and are very fun to play. You just park them over a couple of objectives and wait for the enemy to try and blow them all away. Its very hard to try and shift a couple of hundred models, even with the apocalypse blast markers.

Effectively every model which has a Vox Caster can call in an Orbital bombardment on THEIR location, if they survive they can do it again!

In an army with 30+ vox casters, OMFG...

I run 3 Baneblades, thats pretty fun.

See how many Ork Dethkoptas you can fit in, we once had a squadron of 30 on the table.

These all sound like ideas where each turn will take multiple hours. Infantry & apocalypse don't mix.

I wanted to run an emperor titan with a full inquisitor retinue, a mekboy with KFF and a bunch of techmarines and thunderfire cannons... But pedro said no.

Yes I have something like 500+ Troops but that are maybe 20% painted (well by me anyway). but I need a lot more in the way of heavy weapons, unless I use mostly missile launchers.

There is a really cool Catachan Formation in the reloaded book. All vets and weapons teams and you get to do loots of cool stuff. Like make a terrain piece dangerous terrain and snipe people as they come on the table.

I have nearly completed my Black Templar and Imperial guard forces which will field 10,000 pts each with a Super Heavy in each (Baneblade in IG and a Stormlord {Fellblade} in the BT). Then combined they will be able to field a 20,000 Tyrant's Legion list.

It's not quite that bad. It is one bombardment per shield company per turn. All those voxes just give you more places to call it in.

I think the best way you could field the army at once would be to run an event where you supply the imperial side.

well its good to see im not the only 1 with crazy ideas.
Im now really considering doing this up as a Mod diary now, and might be an incentive to gather a few others so we can all make mad as/ loony apoc forces

Id really be keen to see pics of the entire Blood angel Chapter.
In the white dwarf a while ago there was that polish dude who had the entire chapter plus a scout titan and that was massive, would be Mental now with all the newer stuff out

2 of my freinds got into 40k by buying a battle company (when apoc first came out you could by it all in one big box).

I just have about 12k of BA and a half assembled Emperor class titan. And a thunderbolt and lightning for some air support

D Weapons are what allows a large game to be completed in a reasonable amount of time (a whole day/weekend instead of a week).

And on large tables (or just long ones if you have it in a corner), the orbital defence laser is awesome.

Working on a DKOK army aiming to get to apoc scale - 3 or 4 baneblades, 6 russes, 6 earthshakers, 2 medusas, 9 quad launchers, 4 hades drills and a shedload of infantry slogging through the trenches.

Getting closer slowly but surely.

Can also take a fairly awesome marine contingent - 30 terminators, about 6 tac squads, 3 LR's, 3 vindicators,6 dreads,2 Ravenwing squadrons (inc speeders), drop pods and rhinos (plus characters).

Points wise not sure I'll up load some pics when I get on my desktop got a few pictures of 1st 2nd and 3rd full companies on a gaming table and the assault and dev companies are somewhat visible in the display case behind them, it's comprised of models from the 2nd edition boxed set to the latest death company and almost everything in-between.

about 50 000 points of chaos Marines
10 super heavy tanks
3000pts Guard
3000 points of Tau not including
2 tigersharks
10 remoras
4 barra's
3000 points worth of Orks
2 stompas
X pts space marine/wolves etc
and goods knows what in boxes!
I spend way too much on 40k
oh I forgot I have 33 tables worth of terrain and the table tops as well!
