So I've stirred up a bit of "conversation" on a certain wargaming facebook page regarding this 40k diorama
http://www.coolminiornot.com/266249 NOT SAFE FOR KIDDIES Although shocking at first, I think it raises a good point on what we might be willing to accept in our hobby/medium, especially since we're essentially glorifying violence/warfare, whilst leaving out the "yuckier" parts of our beloved GRIMDARK FUTURE. Not that we need or want them to be in it, but it's interesting to be confronted with it all the same. Some are saying this is totally unacceptable, though I find this in better taste than, say the Black Library novel where the protagonist goes bat###### demon insane and (implicitly) skins two women alive. Better taste in that this actuall has a point to make (or at least try to get people more thoughtful) Also I'm personally somewhat mollified by the fact that if you look closer, the situation isn't going to play out so one-sidedly as first glance would appear. Mods, if this is deemed unsuitable for forum discussion, please remove and refrain from cleansing me with purging flame. Wow, just wow! Magnificently constructed and represented. I don't think it's out of order, just incredibly powerful. One of the best 40K dioramas I have seen in over 20 years in the hobby. Well done mate, incredible!

Its a different take on the 40k universe. Mind you i think its pretty naive to think that when war is constant that terrible things like that don't take place.
Mind you i'm pretty sure that's bestiality. Its not even human. -------------------- tintaman on player behaviour.....

If I could be bothered (which I can't) I'd dig up the thread where this was discussed. Instead I'm not going to enter this thread again because it's going to be filled with inane comments and a really retarded argument on "what IS art?"

Then perhaps give those who weren't around then, or didn't get involved, a place to discuss/rant? One of the more annoying tendacies of this web community, and the fact that the mods allow it to occur. At least NINJA managed to give a reference to why this is "OLD".

"Immature" is the word for it.
Seriously, who spends that much time and money to put together some tiny alien boobs? |

"Immature" is the word for it. Seriously, who spends that much time and money to put together some tiny alien boobs? You could say the same thing about Michelangelo's David or the Venus de Milo. Just because it has nudity doesn't mean its "immature". Now I'm certainly not comparing those classic sculptures with this, what I'm saying is that regardless of whether or not the sculptor was giggling with glee as he sculpted the breasts, the diorama still makes people think about the side of the 40k universe that must exist but most ignore. -------------------- Order of the Pure Rose (Sisters of Battle)

Just to be pedantic, there is nothing "Implied" about the 'piece'.

its a really well constructed and painted piece, unfirtunately is has bad subject matter.
if the guy undoing his pants was moved to be taking a leak near by and the guy hold the breastplate had a helmet instead, no one would be talking about the bad morals behind the piece. this is the side of 40k that doesnt really exist because GW doesnt say it does, 40k is their fiction and they choose not to mention this stuff, i feel because of the age group that the games attract. adults should be able to understand whats going on in this diorama and move on, but try explaining it to a 10yr old... its relatively tastefully done for a warhammer, its just the implication of whats going to happen so i dont think theres anything ott about it

I like it, very well though out, people just dont like it due to this is what happens at war (well wars on earth why not in space long after we are dead). Guardsman are humans this is how humans act. You know this to be true that's why people get discussed. Be discussed in the human race not the model its art it portrays a truth that would likely be there. There is lots of other art out there what does the same thing.

Just to be pedantic, there is nothing "Implied" about the 'piece'. Assuming you're referring to sexual assault, there's none occuring in the diorama so it is _implied_ that there is going to be. For all we know the guy with the chest plate is a medic trying to help the alien who doesn't understand. The guy undoing his pants took a crotch shot from her and is concerned for his wellbeing. -------------------- |[TENABRAE]|40k|[Hive Fleet Dryad]|[Feral Angels]|infinity|[Yu Jing]|alkemy|[Aurlock Nation]|
