OK, as I promised some people, I've gotten to work on making all the Necromunda gangs out of plastics. At the moment I have my Delaque, Cawdor, Orlock & Goliath. Also worth mentioning that they are all dead easy to make!
For starters, those of you who don't know what Necromunda is should go here. Basically it's a skirmish game set in the 40K universe. The rules are at the link provided and it's free to download them. One of my favorite GW games and with these easy to convert gangs there's no reason not to give it a try. Now on to the models: Goliath
This model is based on the plastic Fantasy Chaos Marauder. The toso legs and head all come from there with the arms being from the plastic Catachans. The mohawk was made with a bit of greenstuff and was fairly simple to make. The spiky bit on the shoulderpad was made from plasticard and chopped up toothpicks but there are very similar bits on some of the ork sprues. All up this model took about 10 minutes to make including the greenstuff & is one of my favorites. Definately the closest to the original models. Goliath could also be made using only the catachan sprue (use the bare chested models) for the lazy ones out there. There's even a head with a mohawk already on the Catachan sprue. They just arn't as nice in my opinion. Delaque
Well, this is my gang, the one that got all this started so they are all a little more refined than the other mock ups (should be no mold lines on these!). The basis for them was the Brettonian Men At Arms with some Cadian arms attached. The most difficult part about making these models is the heads (same goes for the Goliaths). There arn't many bald plastic heads around so you have to be prepared to file off hair, bandannas and laurel wreaths to get the heads looking right. Not difficult, just a little time consuming. To add the characterisic goggles I just wraped a thin roll of greenstuff around the head. Then I left it 15-20 minutes and flattened it out a little. After that I cut up some thin plastic rod and used that for the lenses, just stick it into the still almost fresh greenstuff or supergue it on after it's dried. You can also see a juve in this pic (the one on the right). As you can see he stands about a head shorter than the other models. Juves are pretty easy to make for all warbands. Just shorten the legs and arms and look for some smaller heads if possible. Easiset spot to shorten legs is the boots. If they are wearing long boots cut the boots off, shorten them & reattach them. Also you can cut a bit of the tops of the lower torso (where the belt is on most models) to make them a bit shorter. Orlock
Orlock are probably the easiest models out of the bunch to make. Most people use straight Catachan models for them (If you make Goliaths using the muscled torsos use the rest for Orlock). I made mine using Empire Militia legs with Catachan toso, arms and head. For the loincloth (characterisic of Orlock) I would normally use greenstuff but here I used the lower part of a trenchcoat from the Militia box cut to size. Also, the shoulderpad is from the kroot sprue. If I had the patience and was making a full gang of them I probably would have made the entire model out of the Militia sprue with just the Catachan head. I did a mock up a while ago and it looked better but this will do the job just as well. Cawdor
The most distinctive thing about Cawdor is there masks. They are also dead easy to make. I actually made this model out of one of my early Delaque protoypes. He uses a Brettonian Men At Arms body with Empire Militia Arms. The gun is from the Catachan sprue and the head is from a Dark Elf Warrior. The head originally was pointy & I filed this down to a nice rounded head but it isn't really necessary.
This second model is amde almost the same way. I instead used Cadian arms and I used a Wood Elf Scout head. In my opinion both models came up quite good with no need for greenstuff. So there's the first four. All except the Delaque could probably use a few little acessories from the bits box to add a little flair but it isn't really necessary. Hope that inspires a few people to have go at converting their own gangs and getting into Necromunda. I'll try and get the other gangs done too as I have ideas for all of them. I just need to get my hands on a couple of plastic Eldar to model Esher & Van Saar. Pit Slaves, Redemtionists, Arbites and Ratskins are also on the cards as I've got the bits in by bits box to make them all out of plastics. -------------------- "I am Silas Hand, Chosen of the Inqusition. They look really good, and appear quite simple to make. Organboy has just made an orlock gang from catachan bits and a shitload of greenstuff. If i can get my hands on some pics ill post them up on this thread just for a geez.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Some are better than others. I'm very partial to the Goliath & Delaque myself. They are heaps of fun to make as you can let your imagination & bits scrounging run riot.
Greenmonkeydishwater, I'd love to see them. Also if anyone makes there own post them up here too. The plastic sprues being as good as they are, there are hundreds of possibilities. That isn't even including using models from other brands and metal models. -------------------- "I am Silas Hand, Chosen of the Inqusition. I am the fist of the Emperor here, and I decide who dies!"

Organboys Gang was based on the team from the game 'Vietcong'. He has really captured the character of the team...with the aviator sunglasses and cigars hanging from the bottom lip.
I'll get some pics up asap -------------------- |
