Quite awhile ago I started a Paint Log over in the Infinity Section but I put things there pretty rarely over time. I post almost all of my work on Farcebook as I got for feedback but I often miss some sage advice so heres my Plog Rebooted and with some humour or ill humour I'm going with Australian Larrikin'ism where nothing is really sacred and dark humour is as good as light humour. Ohh and not forget plenty of self mocking so on with the mock fest.

First up though let see Vissy's mascot for his little Haqqislam force.

IPB Image

Proof that even an a Beef and Pork Sausage from Eastern Europe can be a 100% Halal Warriors of the Faith

Yeah I went there I can't help that I'm a Chef and dyslexic enough to not always see Haqqislam spelt correctly so when it comes though to me especially the first few times I saw Hack'e'salami so now thats what I call it for giggles. Take it for the joke that it is because it's a fictional faith in a fictional universe for a game played with man dollies by grown men.

Enough of that those who have seen my original force as I painted it know its pretty monotone especially early on as I was using just what I had. Citadel paints, Army Painter: Strong Tone DIP and I was DIPPING! Then I went to brushing it on and finally replaced it with Secret Weapon: Dark Sepia Wash.

I've moved away from those methods allot thanks to my Airbrush but I still need the force to have some continuity and I've decided never to strip these models no matter how bad they are compared to my current day work even as I get better later on. This force will always be my grading force so I've being using bases to match it all together and I redo my bases and touch up things on the models as I go.

Recently as in the last few days I did some quick OSL on them to help tie it all together its not fancy its not complete but it has helped. So lets look at where they are at now.

IPB Image

All my basic LI Ghulams I haven't gotten the new SWC box yet.

These are all of the early models really they are clearly dipped and damn near indictable thanks to it but so much detail is lost to the darkness and varnish.

IPB Image

My Specialist Ghulams Mr and Mrs Doctor Ghulam the OOP Hacker and Engineer. They are OOP for a reason!

IPB Image

Naffatuns my favourite burninators of everything I hate about your army.

Now you can see allot of the OSL on these guys and girls and also where I changed from Citadel Paints to Vallejo, P3 and started Airbrushing basecoats then blocking in and washing. Allot more detail is present and actually painted rather than ignored.

IPB Image

This is rather a mixed bag of LI and has allot of the models I'm really unhappy with in it. Either bad sculpts, poorly imagined paint jobs or just lack of skills at the time. This is the sort of area I want to revisit allot.

IPB Image

Janissary Heavy Infantry 5 man Link Team which never gets used ... or does it. Maybe their is a Hafza there or is there? Maybe their all HAFZAS you will never know! Wait I rolled a dice yes you do. Two total conversion there of the one from the starter box.

I'm not super sold on these guys and the OSL needs the most work here to clean it up and make it look like it belongs but I was learning how to use and regulate my Sotar 20/20 while doing this so I'm happy enough to use them as is and come back to clean them up later.

IPB Image

My favourite painted model the Sekban w/ HRL not my favorite paint job not at all but I LOVE that model. Two Husam Spec Ops I use as my other Sekbans to form a Haris Link Team. Finally Cordelia from the famous Scarface and Cordelia mercenary TAG troop.

That Sekban w/ HRL will be revisited I intend on buying the whole Boxset and a new HRL to paint in the future to a much better standard!

IPB Image

My little for now painted QK force on matching bases. 3 x Hafzas OR ARE THEY .... no their Hafzas. Djanbanzan w/ HMG (Allot more Djanbazan to be painted in the future) Finally the OOP Azra'il I'm not a huge fan of the resculpt especially the change in size but this one looks like poop compared to it.

They are closer to representing where I am today.

IPB Image
terrible on the table. Nah maybe it's just me but I wanted to push my painting style and these were the catalyst for that change. I tried hard here to start doing highlights and but to retain my worn soldier look.

IPB Image

Finally my Fat-chi-koma which basically never leaves my bag and adds 10KG of weight to it for no reason I guess. Plus the 2 less useful but fun to own and paint Kameel Remotes I like them more than the Chicken Walkers.

I can't wait for the resculpted Maghariba Guard to be released it will allow me to do a TAG justice this time will be my 3rd painted when I get it done and a real test of my skills.

Finally this brings to me to my latest set of models.

IPB Image

3 x Asawira 2 of which are weapon changes to give me a nice looking link team. You can see where I've really started to move towards airbrushing and highlighting over block colours, dip or wash.

The OSL needs allot of work still but it adds to the models

The bases will need more work and I'm not happy with the LoS/LoF marking it did not work well on them compared to when I did the Shock Army of Acontecimento Models.

Thats is about it for now except to drop an image on whats on the bench right now for my force.

IPB Image

3 x Saladin each a different colour to make it harder for me. Armour will be that solid colour with the airbrush highlight + edge highlighting something I'm clearly struggling with. The rest will all be the same colour throughout each model so I will have 3 distinct armour sets but the same attire otherwise. Each will go on a different base to match my 3 forces bases. All this so I can improve my skills and generally be a dick and have 1 real Saladin and 2 Hafzas pretending to be the real Saladin. biggrin.gif

Hope you enjoyed the read feedback is very welcome! cool.gif

No Cancon for me next year to much going on saving for family Trip to Korea and I've got to fit a 30th birthday on there as well.

But I can ‪#‎roadtocancon‬ in spirit.

Adding to my Shock Army of Antonio Banderas One Mr Stephen Rao, Magnetized Dronbots and Naga w/ Monomines.

IPB Image

Loving these new sculpts go together so much easier!!!! I didn't put my OP: Icestorm together so these are my first new pegged models loving the lack of pinning needed.

There's still a few new ones here and there that need more effort, but you're right that they're mostly easier smile.gif

Looking good.

Got all of them finished.

IPB Image

Well except the Naga w/ Monomines I think I'm going to have to go back and redo all 4 Naga's to make them form a nice matching color scheme I don't seem to have the paints at hand the commission's painter used originally. So they stand out as being very different. dry.gif

I haven't being painting models as much as painting something else.

IPB Image

Heble from the BPLasers cut me a tray using one of his generic carry tray designs and adding a base holding layer to it.

Immediately saw it is true potential tray, storage and display for painting. Really happy with where it's at now but there is still more to ADD!

Thanks Lex I was super lucky to pick the original force up from Minion and while I'll likely never paint to his standard I've improved thanks to having his work at hand and being able to replicate it a little.

I'm currently starting a new force this time its going to be the Imperial Service a force I have tried very unsuccessfully to work on in the past. I however feel my airbrushing skills are now up to the task and I have an actual grip on how to do some basic highlights/edge highlights.

I've also decided to try something else out which is moving away from Miniatures Acrylic Washes and use Artist's Oils to create some of my own. Giving me allot more time to work with it and get some really good panel lines/pin washing going.

Between the Zenithal 3 tone highlighting, blocking out the main areas then oil wash and edge highlights I should be able to create an pretty striking force in a small amount of time.

Anyway first step is assembly as per normal!

There has being some movement on my ISS as of late.

IPB Image

The remotes at the front are the Yaopu Panngguling and are some trying builds so many small connection points and weapons belts to boot. There getting magnetised for sure no way they will survive bagged transportation. I'm not going to use them as the Yaopu remotes those I'm actually going to use them as the Yaokong because I like these newer remotes more and that means I don't need to put them on 55mm bases.

I've got an order from TCC coming which will have the other models I have to have done before December 12th for the QNK doubles tournament. One they come and are assembled I will be able to prime with my Airbrush and then get the first stages of highlighting with the airbrush done.

Wish I could get a good day light photo of the original test scheme but here's some not so good ones.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Decided not to strip my original attempt after a solid black oil paint wash the colours have become alot more muted and its ready for just a few highlights to bring it back up to tabletop. Will remove the metal face mask though that looks silly.

Hopefully I can get these done pretty quickly. Basically have to have them ready by the end of next week or mid week after because that's all the time I have and I don't play unpainted.

Man TCC ship there ###### quick really came through here got my minis today!

So this evening I was all.

IPB Image

And my happy little force grew by 4 totally not even questionable quinda really totally big brother state knows best lobotomised explody political prisoners and one Pheasant Rank Imperial Agent who lets face it probably black bagged them to begin with.

IPB Image

So with that aside I have built all of the LI and REMS I think I have around the place and I'll need for 150 to 200 point games and more importantly the list for the QNK event so now I can batch paint like 19 odd minis. Ohh ###### its like the mean old days of playing 40 Derps. armata_PDT_02.gif

So broke out the airbrush this evening all the airbrushable parts are complete onto the hard yakka all brush work from here. dry.gif

IPB Image

All the colours I ended up using.

Black primer for priming! And of course it also gives me shadows ,zenithal highlighting with the grey primer, red undercoat and orange to finish the red will give me gradients I would otherwise lack.

However the red was to strong for the orange so I zenithal highlighted with the white over it and then the orange to finish.

Black primer once more to fix the bases especially the edges. I hate repainting base edges if their oversprayed.

IPB Image

Pretty damn close to the original model on the right and shes what almost 2 years old?

are you going to use the pheasant model as an actual pheasant rank? I love the model but pheasants are very overpriced for what they can do. I had great success at Toph4Con fielding him as a zhanying hacker.

I haven't had allot of time to play test my ISS so I'm uncertain of how often he will proxy him a Zhanying.

I know the 3 or 4 man Bao Link w/ Pheasant in your standard MSV 2 + MSR combo defensive link is a terrible idea too much of a point sink so what I'm really considering is this.

IPB Image Imperial Service
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

Group 1 IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image4 IPB Image0 IPB Image0
IPB Image IMPERIAL AGENT (Chain of Command, X Visor) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Monofilament CCW. (35)
IPB Image BÀO TROOP (X Visor) Boarding Shotgun, Contender / Pistol, Knife. (28)
IPB Image BÀO TROOP (X Visor) Boarding Shotgun, Contender / Pistol, Knife. (28)
IPB Image BÀO TROOP (X Visor) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (29)

0 SWC | 120 Points

Open with Army 5

That's only 120 points and a very very aggressive link team capable of ignoring most modifiers thanks to their MSV2 and still containing a specialist and even a means to counter high ARM or multi wound/STR. It only gets better especially if you bring a a Celestial Guard w/ LGL to get those Smoke Grenades out there.

Ugghhhhhhh,

Urge to ever paint a whole force at one dieing dieing dieing.

If I every come here again with a 'imapatchpaintsomethings' thread shoot me.

IPB Image

Anyway worst of the bulk colours done I can gloss varnish them now and oil wash tomorrow let them dry varnish again and hopefully finish the details and bases before Thursday.

4 days that's kind of possible right?

Good work Vis. I envy your airbrush for the Orange. Doing it by hand sucks...!

Are you keeping the bases consistent with the previous ones ?
I think you are on the down hill run.

Got the oil washes done last night.

Also base coated the bases as well.

They have ended up with the same style bases as my Shock Army for convenience sake. Also means I can use my carry tray as a display board if needed.

Hopefully after I get home from this meeting I need to go to tonight work I can basically finish the bases. Except the LoS/LoF parts and grass + tuft's.

Ha, ha, ha ###### brisbane and its stupid ######ing humidity.

IPB Image

Sooo fogging everything up is totally a thing so tonight I had to wash them multiple times with some turps to clear the worse of it up. dry.gif

Anyway that's all done and the bases edges have being re-blacked and LoS/LoF lines added nothing special not sure what I want for them in the long run yet.

Tufts have being added, static grass tried and failed then washed off and left little bits all over the place. Basically this has being a really long haul but THERE DONE!

IPB Image

Yay

Will need fixing, highlighting and what not redone but they are table top and the tournament is only 3 days away and its all good enough now to show and play. armata_PDT_37.gif

There are two types the smaller 40mm bases are Yaopu Panngguling Yaopu remotes those I'm actually going to use them as the Yaokong because I like these newer remotes more and that means I don't need to put them on 55mm bases that way.

The others are the MSV 2 spitfire armed Rui Shi and the MSV 1, Mk12 and HFT Lu Duan ontop of that it's holoprojector Lvl 2 as well.

P.S I have More celestial guard!!! Another LGL, 3 more Rifles already painted by my old Yu Jing owner and I've got another 3 from the starter set as well given to me the other day.

my local meta (toph4con guys) usually don't have a heap of remotes, so I'm not as familiar with them. Didn't realise so many yu jing ones had visors! A loloprojector flamethrower one would be pretty interesting to use.
