So, the new edition of 40k is upon us, and I think it's fair to say a lot of retired players are coming out of the woodwork. I myself am just that, I had given up on 40k and was in the process of actively selling my collections off. Having played this new edition however, Ive been sucked back in.

So what's everyone planning? A new army? Dusting off the old? Finally finishing off that long forgotten project? Or simply expanding upon what you've already got?

I myself intend to get my primary army of stocko vanilla marines to arrange up 4000 points, by adding to and finishing off planned expansions. I'm currently slapping together a Outrider detachment. After that I'll move into another detachment until I've hit a point where I'm satisfied the army is complete.

Well I got rid of all but a handful of bits a LOOONG time ago (the SWA kill team is a remnant of that) so I'm going to have to start fresh. Thankfully a mate should be getting a starter that we can split so that solves my issues smile.gif

So yeah, on the cards for me is Bigger Blacker Templars wink.gif they've been on the cards for me for a while and it shouldn't be too hard to Templar up some of the Guillimarines from the starter.

I have some old second edition armies gathering dust and I meant to build a 30K force that never really took off so of course I'm starting a brand new army.

Someone needs to put something on the table to knock the crosses off of Borzag's Templars.

So a small army of Thousand Sons to learn the new rules and then we'll see how it expands from there.

I have some from a couple of years ago that I was experimenting on with dipping and 16 old space crusade ones from the 90's so a core element of boyz is already there. I will expand this to play 8th edition and also with 2nd edition in mind as well.

Dusting off the old for me. I got some new shelves and have unpacked boxes of models.

Annoyingly, i seem to be missing a drop pod, land raider and a handful of terminators and marines.

But one of the projects that i was working on some time ago was building up a respectable looking dark eldar force using primarily the older versions of the models. Making use of dark elf models where i can to flesh them out, corsairs for wyches etc.

And of course, my ever consuming imperial forces. I have a bit of almost everything, i seem to have misplaced my few assassin models, or traded them off, i don't recall. And i also lost the Uriah Jacobs model i was given many many years ago. So i have no battle sisters.

But what i plan on doing with those multitudinal forces is creating some semblance of usefulness in the form of a crusade force. A few small detachments from multiple chapters type thing, along with some inquisition forces and a small imperial guard detachment.

Honestly it's one hell of a project.

Going to do a marine force - primarily primaris marines, but with some predators, devastators, etc on the side..

When it comes to playing will probably be a mixed force, making the most of the imperium key word.

Blood Angels for me. Starting from scratch. Getting back into it after being away from the game for some time. I too sold of all my old stuff. Family and other interest took over when the rules and the cost was getting out of hand. The new box set and army books give you so much more value. The rules are also improved.

Dusting off and expanding Nurgley bits and Khorne bits (need to paint a bunch of Red Marines)...

The new edition got me motivated to paint three Blight Drones that have been sitting on the bench for about 2 or 3 years (they'll be Foetid Bloat Drones).

Building a new Ork army out of the bitz box (having discovered about 3000 points of 'left overs' and ordered some extra boyz to flesh them out...)

Pumped.

I've been putting together some more Harlequins, now they have some more flexibility in army structure (and actual HQ units).

Also, just ordered some parts for Alpha Legion cultist conversions, and I've converted up Cypher (as the Imperium/Chaos keywords seem appropriate) - I think all my 30k specialist units will be fielded as Fallen in 8th Ed. It's time to get the XX Legion on the table at last.

I'm painting some 40k models again for the first time in a long time. Still haven't finished my Flesh Tearers.

But I'm thinking of doing an army that I've wanted to do since 2nd edition, but was thwarted by how difficult it was back then to paint yellow power armour...

I love the new edition.

I am just repainting my marines or all things.... They were done very early on and were in quite a state of bad paintjobs and years of abuse tumbling around tabletops, floors and in cases.
