Well that was that..
All in all, and I refer you all to Bails's post, it was an "interesting" weekend. Faced with the prospect of almost running the thing myself, then things working out ok, I was in a different mood upon arrival with young Chunka.. opps soory Jezza40K to do the set up. After all the usuall rigrmarole ( three trees and two hills.. or was that two trees and three hils Bails?), we said hello to quite a few new faces and some old ones as well. First, is it just me or is Aeon always looking the same?? I am suggesting to a few TO's that we prize support from Lowes and get Aeon and Hilly some new threads for their wardrobe. but I digress. Three weeks ago I made a change to my list, added in some new marines and did more painting at work. We have a new girl in the office as another one s off on maternity leave. She got the 5 min rundown of the hobby.. blinked.. and went to have lunch. the benifit of ordering the stores for my branch is I care not for photocopying my fluff for my opponents.. all 16 pages of it!! Onto the Report.. and this will be a good one. Me nad my dice will be haveing a few words this week.. Game 1 Cleanse Alpha. Michael Dent, Biel Tan. How many models?? Ewww this is gunna hurt. That Fire prism, Vypers with Star Cannons, 2 of em, and a squad each of Dark Reapers and Rangers?? Oh, you need 4's to hit? Ok, you missed. Tops. Can I have a go? Oh.. Umm.. Fire Prism Destroyed. Heheheh.. We had a laugh. THEN he proced to whittle me down. With an amalgamation of Striking Scorpians and a Farseer with Kaela Mensha Khaine knows how many Warloks in it.. ALL with Re-rolls to armor saves on em meant that Tempy might be able to belt one or two of em.. but re-rolls kept em there. I got Floggede!! 13 - 7 Loss. He claimed a table quater. If not for that part on Vic points Iw as a winner. Oh well next match will be better.. Game 2 Take and Hold. Dave "Rat of Vengeance" Robertson. Customised Marines. Ohhh.. Kleptomaniacs Delight!! I like this one.. Ohh theres a Vindicator Tank and a Whirlwind. Oh,, no scatters?? Hit? Tops.. I can fail 3+ saves with the best of em! With a tops looking army we set about shooting the snotlings out of each other. THEN my Deamons (Bloodletters) decided to go wandering around the corner of a hill ( They'll be comin round the mountain") And find Mr Dreadnought.. Ohh s###t.. Well there goes that flank. Hold on.. If Tempestus can get one more turn i can clean the Vindicatior off.. Oh.. that 5" Blast template didnt scatter Dave? 5+ Invulnerable Save? Yup, when I am packing him up he is dead. Yep, double toughness. (Note to GW Designers - Daemon Princes DONT have that thick a skull to headbut Vindicator shells). With a loooong wallk over to Bails to hand in my 20 - 0 sheets I was looking forward to Gloria Jeans for a sweet chat with a few of the girls.. Game 3 Recon, gamma. Speed Freaks. We had FUN!! I know Hilly and Aeon would say that a heretic comment, but we really did. Some of the worst dice rolls imaginable were in this game. I discovers how flimsy an Ork Bike is, and that the bestest moment over the weekend was one of my Aspiring Champions knicking the stiffin out of his Warboss. A VERY good indication of the future of gaming is if young Ryan is any indication of how things are going to be. He realised I had no idea on the rules of his force and rexplaind them as we went along. Very comendable young lad. result as a jaw dropping draw with 24.. yes 24 vic pts between us. that says it all. Home shower, T-Bone steack, off to Bails for his Mrs' salad ( Mmmm Shellys Salad mmmm) and the Knights getting stuffed. Game 4 Seek and Destroy, Thomas and Necrons. Ahhh Grudge match from last year. I know Thomas as he was a club regular when we started the L all those long years ago. We had a tops game, and he has a nice little list of Necrons. Was a close one and was a minor Vic to me by not all that much. Poor little bugger forgot that Chaos Marines can have a looot of points sinked into units, so he didnt get all that much off me. Only real top point was Tempy knocking the stukking out of the 10 Necrons in the unit.. then they fled.. he caught em. Was a nice game and I always like Necrons. Game 5. Lee, Blue Bugs of Doom and Cleanse.. again. Another Club regular, tho this time one who I have not played. He has a nice rounded Tyranids army, unlike myself and a few others the Shines went to all points of the compass. I will leave that to Bails to deal with once the Lap Top is resurrected. All I can say is this was my BEST performance at a Tourney. Worst I did, apart from battle points but as we all know I cant play for crap, was 2 Points behind the Winners for ALL sections. So on that note we come to the end announcement.. After many years of enjoyment, fluff and annoying the smeg out of TO's all over I have decided to retire Tempestus and his boyz. With more prizes and accolades than I EVER thought possible from when I fist picked up a brush, I feel it is time to move on in the hobby. I would like to thank all those opponents over the years who played me and gave me the greatest times I have had, the To's who put up with my fluff and rubbish, WargamerAU for prividing me a point on wish to annoy all the other people I couldnt do face to face. Tin Soldier Penrith for some nice deals over the years and feedback on background. Most of all, two people. Jezza40K, he kept me in one more year and made me realise that gaming is more than getting "shinies" And Bails. A man needs a Best Mate to share his dreams and desires with, as well as show him the path to them. Thanks.. Enuff said.. -------------------- "When was the last time you betrayed the Emperor?" Well, good to catch up again, Tempestus. Im only sorry I never got to put Archon Aviendha (She's now an archon, all the way from a lowly Sybarite..., another way to keep the fluff going...) toe to toe against that Chaotic monster....
You have been a bit of an inspiration to me, someone who plays the hobby from the sheer love of modelling and fluff, and you put up a good front for Tempestus, no doubt. Proving there is more to this hobby than hard fought tactical games, more than one way to get fun from the weekend. After all, most of us usually walk away without prizes normally, so there has to be something else that keeps us coming back. I understand, life moves on, and all. I just hope that doesn't mean we've seen the last of you for good. You did say "move on in the hobby" so perhaps that means we'll see something from you in the future. A shame Lord Tempy is dead... but long live the new King/boss/Hive node. Anyway, either way, it was good to see you again, and glad to have seen Tempy one last time... -------------------- Official ACADEMIC LEMMING Lords of Terra 2013 will run 20th & 21st July, 2013 Venue Blacktown Bowl 6th Edition NO COMP!!!!! 1500pts, NO IA armies but "40K approved" units are allowed- may include allies and/or a fortification as per rules 50% Battle! (Help make "Best General" Prize redundant...) It's high time someone other than a Queenslander or Kiwi took the trophy away from NSW... Agree it's a shame to see him go.
Only time I ever got to play him was at clash of the Titans - but it was a great game, played in I hope the right spirit. My last remaining 13 company Rat Guard took him down with his powerfist, but not until the rest of the army had munched through all of my dirty rat marines. Good to see you again and hope to catch up with you for some more games with whatever you end up designing going forward. |

I am glad I got to play your army before it's retirement. It has to be one of the best themed and 'fluffed' armies I have seen!
QUOTE THEN my Deamons (Bloodletters) decided to go wandering around the corner of a hill ( They'll be comin round the mountain") And find Mr Dreadnought.. Ohh s###t.. Well there goes that flank. Hang on, you left out the bit where my dready did 7 airswings out of 8 rolls! First round of combat 1 and 1. Second round the dice read 2 and 2. Third round it was 3 and 3. Anyone detecting a pattern here? And yes, fourth combat round I got a 4... and 1. Finally hit something. Fantastic game. If the Vindicator hadn't actually hit for a change it would gave gone very pear shaped for me. Good luck with whatever army comes next!
