Hey all,
Big Al and I were having a quick discussion about doing a small Warhammer tournament, when the subject changed to perhaps doing a Confrontation Tournament instead. Al and I would like to run a 1st class C3 tournament here in Brisbane / Gold Coast. Something which we could grow over the years and deliver something which people would be willing to travel to, and not only play C3, but to have great social fun and to help promote this great system. Perhaps even set up painting clinics, conversion clinics and similar for those of us whose skills could use some pointers (Damn NMM!) I need of course to talk to the relevant parties about sponsorship, awards, designing scenery etc etc, but as I have a props warehouse, spray booth, access to a lot of materials (and knowing people with decent scenery)...well I think we can put together some great looking boards, and hopefully attract some great painters for some great photo ops! As I work in the Events Industry, it's quite easy for me to pull a few strings and get a room at one of the decent Hotels in Brisbane / Gold Coast as well reasonable room rates. So...this is what I'm thinking, a two day event, with poker and a decent meal during the Saturday night. I could even set up a projector, screen and sound system for a few movies to be run during the night as well. (this way it becomes a great social event as well as a confrontation gig). Hell, I'd even theme the room with props and a decent stage set as an added bonus! Points wise etc, is yet to be determined, but I can't see why we couldn't get 4-6 rounds done in the first day, with a half day of 2-3 games on the second. Cost wise, well it wouldn't be the cheapest event ever. As there would be air fares for some, plus accomodation at a decent venue (again I can get some great prices from these venues, for example 50% off the Gold Coast International, so a room with twin share would be about $45-$80 per person with a spa bath) I'd keep table numbers down to 5-6 tables for quality reasons. Though this is not a strictly invitational event, I'd like to see certain people coming to this, so a few spaces would be reserved for some. So limited avilability would mean people would need to enter sooner rather than later. All armies would have to be 100% painted. No excuses as really there are only a dozen or so to do Datewise...well I'd be thinking March in 2007, depending upon interest and people's availability. What do we think? Would love to hear your comments about doing this high quality, great fun event! Cheers, Mark This post has been edited by gronk: Nov 16 2006, 12:58 PM -------------------- AUSCON in 2013

Hey Mark,
You and Al have some great ideas when youre knocking heads. I have just started my first warband, and would love to attend an event like this, if my painting is up to standard of course. Here is an example of how they are going. ![]() Cheers Dodgy -------------------- The Nationals 2010 - 4th (Trollbloods)

Good to hear from you Dodgy, great to hear some support for this so soon.
Nice fig Dave, I'm liking him. We will be nutting out some more details this weekend and are also looking for input for consideration from those interested. As Mark said, we want this to be a premium event for those with the passion and inclination. Great tables, great minis, great games all with an eye to promoting the game and bringing something new to the gaming scene. Let's hear it folks This post has been edited by Big_al: Nov 16 2006, 10:22 PM |

I have just been looking into Confrontation.
I am interested in coming along, if it was in the school holidays (NSW) or perhaps a two day event over a long weekend. This is, of course, if there are any spaces left for me and my Gobbos. |

OK, I've done a bit of research on the various tournies run, and we will prbably do what has been done before using official tournament rules etc.
As we are both new to the system, please bear with us, but we are committed (or should that be "We should be committed"?), to running a first class tourney using great scenery and ensuring that everyone has a great time. The main aim is to promote the C3 gaming system here in Oz, as well as providing a great location for people to show off their forces, talk about the game system and to kick back and have a goo time. I will also make sure that the venue is the very best we can lay our hands on, as well as providing a few unique items for the event. More as Al and I formulate and concoct some great ideas -------------------- AUSCON in 2013

Hi guys.
Confrontation is up and running in Australia - there is a local importer Metalforge and a country-wide club ANZCORD. I was just passing and saw your posts so thought I'd add a few notes. As the president of the club, give me a call at murray.quarmby@comhra.com if you want a hand with sponsorship etc. Also, there is a dedicated forum for C3 at www.metalforge.com.au. Hopefully see you there. For interest, I'm in Brisbane once a month - when were you thinking of running a competition? |

Hi Mquarmby,
Thanks fo rthe reply. We;re in regular contact with Quentin and Carpo, both of whom have offered their support, and I've posted the basic details of the tournament on the Metal Forge Anzcord forums. Al and I are having a pow wow this weekend as we travel down to Dogcon, so once we have some more details for everyone early next week. Hi Mark
I would love to see the expansion of Rackham's games and miniatures in Queensland, a tournament would be great way of getting the local gamers together to see what's being played. While I'm yet to play Confrontation (Still waiting on the rulebook I've ordered from my local store), I have been playing Hybrid since it was released and would be happy to run some demo games of it throughout the tournament. The miniatures I use for Hybrid are painted up to golden demon standards. Let me know if you would like to include a Hybrid demo for the tournament. Cheers Simon |

I would be interested in coming assuming that work permits. Cancon was such a great weekend that ill be trying to come to as many tournaments as possible. Getting a date set sooner rather than later would be ideal so we can try and get as cheap air fairs as possible. I would recommend you post this on the metalforge forums asap so u can drum up some interest.

Hi Gronk,
I the idea of a tornie being held in brisbane still a possibility? It would be a shame if this event didnt come together. If your open to the idea as well as others,we could hold a few demo games at the up comming 'Big Weekend' tornie over the long weekend in May. Im sure if anything this will at least create a bit of interest from people and maybe recruit a few more players. Let me know what you guys think. Cheers |

Hi,
It's still a definite possibility, but due to some real life issues gettng in the way, it's taking a bit of a back seat for the short term. I'd love to hold this tournament and make it the best in Australia, both Al and I have a real passion for quality events and would like to start a trend in smaller boutique style events. Let me talk to Al and I'll see what can still be done this calendar year! -------------------- AUSCON in 2013
