Any news on when the Victorian GT will be held? I hope its before mid june or I'll miss that aswell The events calander for Conflict/GT/Golden Demon is now up and correct http://oz.games-workshop.com/community/calendar.htm SEPTEMBER 22 - 23 Grand Tournament Melbourne This date here is one of the main reasons KF rolled forward a month so we had some time to organise and run Conflict - April 15, KF July 14-15, GT - September and then Golden Demon Oct-Nov. Players packs are being finalised over the next weeks for GT and KF... I'll let you know when they are available for down load Cheers Andrew -------------------- Andrew Long

Good question by Aaron,
As Melbourne KF is on the same weekend as Sydney GT. In essence, two of the largest tourney's situated in the two largest cities on the same weekend. I don't understand the reasoning? TnK |

I was planning (as were quite a few others I'm sure) on attending both KF and the Sydney GT, Why put them on the same weekend? -------------------- Good Games Canberra

I'm with Phil I was planning (as were quite a few others I'm sure) on attending both KF and the Sydney GT, Why put them on the same weekend? The answer is if we had a choice that: Wasn't influenced by commitments given to build a stronger association with the local club and have KF and their Convention share the venue, 2007 is a transition year were we are implimenting an over arching strategy to have a Conflict season (at the beginning of the year) and a distinct GT season which will move those events to the later part of the year, Some venues had been locked in (Brisbane GT is in late June) while others cities had limited options for dates and would have clashed regardless of the weekend we chose, We are now running a lot of activity... Well the result is that for 2007 KF in Melbourne and GT in Sydney are on the same weekend. Having to not run one this year because of potential clashes over dates was an option - but better to run them and clash than not at run them at all... Will we have GTs, Conflicts, other events on the same weekends in the future... with the number of events and other local events we try our hardest to avoid... it is inevitable that clashes will occur. The fact that people are looking forward to attending these events is terrific. It makes all the time and effort we've put into developing them so far worthwhile. All I can say to those people wanted to attend both is that I'm really sorry that the clash of dates will make you have to choose between these events. Whichever you choose to attend I hope it meets all your expectations and that we'll be working to lock in next year's program in such a way that as few events as possible clash on dates. It wont affect many at all will it? I wish I had the option of having to choose! aaron -------------------- |

I've got to say that if it was a choice of clashes then surely having a Melbourne and a Sydney event on the same weekend is the best option. It wont affect many at all will it? Better if it was Melbourne and Brisbane, so those in Sydney might be tempted to travel north or south to increase the numbers at both events. Or even better, if it was Sydney and Perth, then those in Brisbane and Melbourne (among other states/countries), would consider travelling to Sydney. Hopefully in the future it wont happen again, although I am sure there will always be clashes every now and then, since there is a good amount of people who wouldn't travel to play the game. myself included (although I'm injured, so I have an excuse). -------------------- Hive Fleet Iceberg modelling diary

Those of us that are Canberran's (or are still close to there) are a bit torn between the Melb Scene and the Sydney scene. The melbourne scene definitely provides the better tournaments with KF being right up there on the "tournament to attend this year" schedule. But due to the close proximity and the excellent venue of the Syd GT (ie: accomadation and meals etc without leaving the actual gaming building) then I think Syd GT will take our support this time round.
Noting Melb GT is not clashing with anything at this stage then hopefully us canberrans can get down there for some more battling in the Prarhan Town hall. Great venue with plenty of back packer accom for those of us on a budget and the awsome coffee shops for breaky lunch and dinner!!!!! Tastrel -------------------- Armies:

I agree with Tastrel, and I think the balance is tipped because there are a few of us from the Gunghalin (and Districts) wargamers who would like to go as a group, and Sydney is the most cost effective for the group.
But either one I'm sure will be great. -------------------- Raise High the Black Flags My Battle Brothers
