Morning all.
Well we have hammered out most of the details for ConVic 08 - including getting general Vagabond club member approval for the rules pack at last nights AGM. Dates have been set: 28th and 29th June 08. Venue has been set: Burden Park Bowls Club (same as previous years). Keep your eyes open for the rules pack to be released in the new year. http://www.oz-vagabonds.net/vgb.php will have updates as they come out as well. Any questions/queries/abuse/bribes feel free to pm me or Dale (Jarveg). Wishing eveyone all the best for the Christmas and New Year season! Regards, Jack (ConVic TO) -------------------- Newsflash:

Hi All
( New to the forum here ) I went to ConVic this year as an observer , it was my first venture into a WHFB tournament environment as i am mostly a historical wargamer . I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of armies i saw and in general i thought everyone was very freindly .The couple of hours i spent there wandering around the tables inspired me enough to paint my own Empire army ( nearly finished ) and was thinking about attending ConVic 2008 as my first WHFB tournament . I originally started with 100's of Goblins but there were a few Goblin armies there that looked like they needed a more experienced player than i , so Empire it is for now as they are closer to what i am familiar with historically . I look forward to being able to participate in 2008 , although i have no thoughts of winning any games as i fear it will be my first game of WHFB and despite being a WAB player from way back and the mechanics are the same , i reckon i still have allot to learn about fantasy gaming . Im sure to make many mistakes that in a historical game would make perfect sense but i mainly look forward to having a few good games , couple of beers and a laugh , hopefully i can make it along . cheers Tom , " Bah Humbug " |

Ok so now i have a little "dumb" question , remember i'm totally new to WHFB so go easy on me .
I am painting an Empire army for CONVIC , i'm finished painting all of my CORE units ( at least for now ) . I had a look at the pts limitations on the Vagabond site and it says 2350 pts without a LORD choice or 2250 pts with a LORD choice . I am really new at fantasy playing , let alone taking part in a tournament , so i want to know ,( now be gentle with me ) . If i go the 2350pts option , does that mean i cannot take a General in my army ? This option leaves me an extra 100 pts to use but without a General in the army . Is that the idea of it ? I told you it was a dumb question . Personally i think i will take a General , i think the Empire needs him , but i just wanted the pts difference sorted out before i move onto painting some characters for the army . Thankyou for any responces and your guidance . cheers tom |

Hey Tom. Not a dumb question at all
You will still have a general regardless of what points limit you take (all armies, regardless of size, have to have a general), however this may or not be the character called an Empire General. With Empire, if you went the 2250 option you would have one of the following Empire lord options as your general: Wizard Lord Archlector Empire General Grand Master If you went 2350 you'd only have characters from the following in the army, one of which would lead the army: Warrior priest Captain Wizard So basically you get the extra 100 points if you don't choose a lord option, and the standard 2250 limit if you want to use one of the four options listed above (Wizard Lord etc). Does that make sense? Ok so now i have a little "dumb" question , remember i'm totally new to WHFB so go easy on me . I am painting an Empire army for CONVIC , i'm finished painting all of my CORE units ( at least for now ) . Hi Mikecro
ahhhhhh yes i see now , by not taking a LORD choice as the general , then you take one of the eligible HEROE choices to be the General , he costs less pts but has a lower LD for moral tests . OK much the same as in WAB Historical , looking back i should have realised that now . Thankyou for your help , i guess i still get to paint up a cool dude on a horse after all . thanks again cheers tom |
