40K Boot Camp 2008

40K Boot Camp is a two day Warhammer 40k tourney to be held in Victoria in September.

In true boot camp style players will have the opportunity of staying in a quiet country location and completely disturbing the peace by engaging in a weekend of furious wargaming. armata_PDT_36.gif armata_PDT_36.gif armata_PDT_36.gif

The gaming format planned is quite different from your standard tourney fare, with two days of campaign like play between two teams being used to determine the winners.

Dates: Friday evening September 5th to Sunday afternoon September 7th

Number of players 32. As usual get your name down early to guarantee a place!

Venue: 15 Mile Creek School Camp, near Benalla (approximately 220kms or 2.5 hours North East of Melbourne)

Entry Fee: $100

Player Capacity: 32

Theme: The assault on Kilfeera II

Another system, another planet, another bloody confrontation.

Deep in the Lurg system, the forces of Chaos launch an assault on the heavily defended imperial world of Kilfeera II.

Evading the orbital defenses, the enemy battlegroup launches a ferocious assault on the planetary capital, aiming for a quick and bold victory.

Simultaneously striking the main airbase, communications array and industrial manufactorium, the invaders try to throw the defenders off balance with multiple threats to crucial infrastructure while their main force assaults the Imperial held coastline.

The stage is set.

Can the Imperial defenders hold the forces of chaos at bay for long enough to retreat in an orderly fashion behind the city walls, making them pay dearly for the attempted siege?

Or will they rout in disarray, too weak to adequately defend the hive city?

Game details:

Team format: All players will be divided into two teams, the forces of Chaos and the forces of the Imperium.

Generals will be assigned for each side. Generals will then assign forces to different sectors. Much bickering and mayhem will ensue. smile.gif

Points: Now 3000pts per player.

Rules: 40K Boot Camp 2008 will use GW 5th Edition plus Apocalypse rules and published datasheets.

Stratagems will be used.
Super Heavies, Titans and Flyers in Apocalypse rules allowed but must be WYSIWYG.
Other gear from Forgeworld will be allowed but where FW and Apoc rules clash, Apoc rules will be used.
Players do not need to own Apocalypse to play, relevant rules will be made known to all players.
Please bring any datasheets relevant to your force.

Format:
Saturday - Saturday will see both sides fight for specific objectives. Assaults will be made on the imperial held coastline, main airbase, communications array and industrial manufactorium. Results will influence Sundays game.

Sunday - All players will join together to assault or defend the hive city.

I'm really really excited about this, I just read all of last years reports and it sounds like you run a really drunken fun weekend of shenanigans gaming. What is the general outlook on reasonable to poor quality scratch builds instead of horrendously expensive forgeworld stuff? If not i can just field a standardish army but i got really excited with images of scratch built thunderhawks, valkyres vultures, stormblades, etc. depending on what army i go with. I suspect that my enthusiasm exceeds my ability but my paper land raider turned out ok so i guess anythings possible. Either way i'm keen to attend.

Tenabrae had a scratch built Thunderhawk last year.

We like to play things relaxed, its more about the event than a beauty parade.

Having said that I would as TO, and I know other players would, object to cardboard cutouts on the table.

If you want to convert something up or scratch build it then let me know what you are intending to do and how and we can probably accommodate it.

Yeah wasn't thinking of anything particularly dodgy like running a piece of paper the footprint of a baneblade with the weapons detail written on it. Rather i would build a bunch of cardboard tanks, painted up nicely and detailed\riveted etc. to look the goods. Something along these lines:

Using a whole bunch of bile's templates. Just don't already own a bunch of big things and wouldn't see the point in buying them just for this event.
