Hey guys,

Well was cruising through blockbuster last night and stumbled upon the Anime section....found a little gem called Appleseed....

........and as this looked alot like the fighting in Infinity and really really reminded me of the Pan Oceanic forces, I thought I share a little with you smile.gif

Yeah, I've been waiting 15 years for someone to make an Anime style scifi minatures game, it finally happened, those europeans have good taste!

If you want to see where Infinity got is inspiration, aside form the 3 Appleseed movies, and plethora of comics. You could also try any Ghost in the Shell movie, tv show, or manga for TO camo, TAG;s, remotes and hackers. and Venus wars for the origin of the monobike.

Here's a good example:

There's a third? I've only...err... "acquired" Appleseed and Ex Machine... What the third one?

Got any more Mange/Anime titles to recommend if thes ones appeal? Venus Wars is sweet, but from memory doesn't have alot of "mech" type scenes in it does it?

The first appleseed movie was actually in 1988 or thereabouts. Normal anime, not the awesome newfangled CG assisted stuff from the latest Appleseed movies. All created by the same guy that created GITS, Masamune Shirow.

I haven't seen ex machina. Is it available yet?

Appleseed makes I-Robot look silly in every imaginable way. I'm sure they stole the plot from Appleseed.

Appleseed 2 is available online. GF ordered it from dvdboxoffice.com should be here next week.

As Necra said... Noobs. I think ive made mention about 10 times through my Infinity posts about it. Geez read the posts guys tongue.gif

Also Infinity is very Robotechesk too. Its been a huge nestalgia trip for me haha. Robotech, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and Robotech; also the new stuff that its made me watch Appleseed, Burst Angel and Full Metal Panic. Still havent watched GitS 2 yet, yet.

Yeah there's the original animated 2d movie as already stated by Necra-chi, I watched it years ago wasn't as good as the manga though.

I watched Venus Wars not much mechs at all, but lots of monobikes, actualy it was a friend who clued me in to that one, I had forgoten it.

Those are the main ones that have influenced Infinity's creation. I think the japanese manga artist Masume Shirow is the biggest influence on the game. his artbooks are amazing (if you like mechs and women with big guns) and ofcourse he created Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed. Otherwise I would say Infinity also draws some influence from Bubblegum Crisis, but I'm not a big fan of that series.

The top half, the lower half reminds me of an Eva, also the way the upper Torso is a seperate section to the lower torso reminds me of countless Shoji kawamori designs, man I could look at his drawings forever. I find overall most Infinity stuff is a great mix of anime influences. You can see it in the concept art for many of the minatures.I really like the way a lot of these european miniature companies follow the concept art as closely as possible. Imparticular when compared to GW's Tau which had some really great concept art (that you can find on the web) but the minatures look totaly different.

Here's a cool link showing the creation process, course it's in spanish, but the pics are great.

There are two Bubblegum Crisis series the original and 2040 aka the remake.

Full metal Panic also has some comedy spinoff, but I haven't really seen much of it.
