Any chance a topic might be up and running soon to give us some idea of how it's going to run.

Just a thought smile.gif

Might be nice if the TO posted something up here ...

Like when, where, rules, what can and can't go ... you know the usual stuff that occurs a little bit earlier than 5 weeks before it's supposed to happen.

Not having a go at you Ethsar smile.gif , and if you can find out anything that would be great, but gotta say that I'm not real happy about hearing nothing this close to the date, I also know that it was kind of pending 5th Ed but ... been out for long enough now that should be finalised.

Hi all and apologies for the dearth of information, I have been overseas for the last couple of weeks. Here is a break down of the percentages for the point scoring, as well as the army composition. A full players pack should be up shortly after sunday, once scenarios and times have been finalised.

Percentage Split for overall score

50% Battle Score
20% Sportsmanship score
20% Army Composition Score
10% Painting Score

Composition:

Each player receives 15 points for comp with penalties as listed below:

Less than 600 points (40%) in troops: -4
More than 375 points (25%) spent in a non-troop category: -1 per offense
A category has more points spent in it than troops : -1 per breach
A category has more Force order choices than troops: -1 per breach
3 duplicate non-troop choices: -1 per breach
No background included: -1
Submitted late: -1
TO discretion: Up to -2

Where a duplicate choice is where the units have the same name in the army selection.

Army List restrictions:

No Special Characters
No Allies
No units or rules from sources other than the Codex may be used. This includes Chapter Approved, White Dwarves, VDR, Tyranid Monstrosities, Forge World rules etc are not permitted.

Painting Score:
Painting score will be scored by a set of three judges, marking off a set of guidlines.

Sportsmanship Score:
Sportsmanship score will be assigned by each of your opponents after each game.

The basic details are what ethsar46 said:

Warhammer 40k Tournament
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September
Contact: Gareth Oliver (Gobberlerra)
woodenchessman@hotmail.com
Points: 1500
Edition: 5th
Games: 6 (3 per day)
Venue: ANU campus (same as previous years)
Entry Fee: $35

The entry fee is payable either to the ANU wargaming society at the club, or at the tournament before the first round, which is probably more convenient for most of you. As in previous years, a barbecue will be provided both days.

I think that is everything for now

Thank you all for your patience

Gareth
With your 3rd restrictions this would prevent blood angels from being fielded since their codex was published in WD. This may be the case for some other armies. I dont intend to use my BA's myself but other may want to use thiers.

I think you should reconsider this rule at least in the case of armies such as this as they are official codex's.

Hmmm that is a good point. Perhaps the simplest solution to this is that if someone has a case which they wish to be an exception, simple to email me and I will consider it. Something like the blood angel's should be fine. I will make sure I spell that out in the player's pack (that these restrictions are able to be appealed)

No special characters ?, what ?, what about anyone who wants to play deathwing for instance, which happen to need the use of a special character to run that army. What about witch hunters and daemon hunters allies ?, whats with the crazy restrictions ?. (none of which affect me i'd like to add, but some people won't be able to use their armies with these).

And just to clarify that Inducted Guard used in a Witchhunters army are not allies so are usable ?

Special Characters also needs clarification ? Deathwing and Templars spring to mind but I'm sure there are others.

@Nightgato Inducted Guard and Inducted Marines are allowed as they are mentioned as choices in the core codex, even if full information requires other codexs.

I assume by templar, you are referring to the Emperor's Champion. As far as this tournament is concerned special characters are only named ones, so it is fine to field him.

Deathwing, my current inclination is to allow Belial, but only for the purpose of fielding a deathwing specific army. However I will need to get hold of a codex and read up fully before making any decision.

@Angmar Witch Hunters and Deamon Hunters may not be used as allies in imperial and space marine armies, however, as mentioned above, may still use inducted marines and guard.

If there are armies that are made unplayable by these restriction, and wish to be played by people, email me or post here and I will consider them on a case by case basis.

@Bagration Haven't actually specifically stated it yet, as players pack will be up shortly but it is 5 days before the competition starts (so by the 22nd at the latest). You can reserve a spot before hand just by emailing me (I think we have room for about 40 people, so we should be fine, but we have apparently had to turn away players in past).

@Everyone in general. For the reasons people mentioned above (preventing certain peoples armies from playing) and talking to members of ANU wargaming society who agree with you, the definition of special characters/units have been changed to "Characters/units that require your opponents consent to play".

Enjoy Armybuilding, and expect a full players pack in a day or so.
