So as some of you are probably aware, I'm starting up a Marine army and the chapter I chose happens to be the Celestial Lions.

Thing is, I'm not really going to do a modeeling diary per se. Over the past couple of days I've been wrestling with Drupal (thanks DancingPigeon) and have managed to get a website started.

It's a bit bare bones at the moment, needs some theme work done to it to change the appearance from the default, but there's some content up there that I've worked on already.

So, feel free to check it out here. This is going to be a LOOOOONG ride.

It is a rare day that I feel moved to reply to a post. This is one such day. I am inspired by the enormity of your ambition and the the pile of shrinkwrapped marine boxes. It is a beautiful sight. I look forward to seeing some painted minis.

Firstly, very cool website!

Secondly, O.... M.... G. Please say you feel daunted, even slightly, by those piles of boxes and long lists.. blink.gif or I'll have to start thinking of you as that 'Crazy Krefey!" What a mammoth task, you're a braver person than I. Good luck, may the painting begin!! biggrin.gif

given that there the celestial lions, your only going to have to around a company worth of models if you take it at current strength! sounds like a cool idea though, im very fond of the scheme...should be a cool project!

woohoo - I am not even close to the insanity of the most insane and so I am ok!! smile.gif

Mate - I remember us both going after one of those company boxes. In hindsight I am glad you got it: my need was only for 2000 points not a whole chapter!!!

Best of luck, have you done a test model? Have you tested out a good gold spray? biggrin.gif

Yeah, it is a little daunting, but this is something I've wanted to do since I started playing in 2nd ed. Now I've got the opportunity to do this. I'm still missing a large number of models though. The thing is, the current marine battle companies that you buy from the GW website, don't come in the battle company box anymore, they come as the standard individually shrink wrapped boxes. So you get 8 rhinos, 6 tactical squads, 4 assault squads, 2 devastator squads, 2 combat squads, a razorback, commander and command squad box. It all adds up to about $1200 of minis from memory. But when the Aussie dollar was full of win, I could grab one of these companies for about $500 form the UK.

I have a comission job for this at the moment. Get them cast up and mass produced and Bob's your uncle smile.gif

I've got a couple of spare lion head pieces that will do nicely as pauldrons from the HE chariot going spare if you want them.

Otherwise, you're insane. A full chapter? I'm glad I'm just sticking to a company.

I tip my hat to you Krefey for such a bold undertaking. I can't believe that even with all the figures you have that is still not enough. I think it's a good thing you don't have a mortgage because this will probably give you one.

Nah, I'm being careful with my pruchases. I've yet to buy something and not pay it off before time. And will wait until I have paid everything off before my next purchase.

I'm not going to go into debt in order to complete this project. In the end, they're just toys. But now that Tournament season is over, I'm going to have quite a few free weekends available to work on this, so hopefully I'll get things progressing soon. I've made a start on the first battle company. 2 assault squads have been assembled...the painting is the part that's going to kill me. I've never been big on the whole painting thing. But, I'll get there eventually.

What really has me thinking is how I'm going to paint my vehicles.

This made me smile, since I'm not really a big painter either. But a whole chapter, I've seen it in a WD once, some Eastern European guy had one, with a titan! Where's your titan Krefey? tongue.gif Best of luck to you, and I was impressed with the info on the site. Bonus points to you!

Cheers,
Bart
