If you are running a unit without packs and dedicated for combat, Vanguard are simply better value. I've played them in 90% of me games with the new dex and they are amazing. Stick a Chappo incharge and they will kill anything you want them too. Tho assault squads would be quite nice in a drop pod...for the added 60 or so pts for transport + difference in vanguard....take the Vguard.

they pass for an assult unit cos they will take a while to do it with three attcks in the first turn but they should be stayong around with their 3+saves a bit longer for the next round and the unit has a higher initiative than alot of the units you would send it into, eg orks, meaning that it will be taking away strikes back, plus their manuverability means you should be sending then after that heavy wepon right down the back so your tanks can move up safer

Sentances are beautiful things.

A full squad from a drop pods could be effective (haven't tried it tho') as you can usually fit in 3-4 plasma pistols if you take a vet sgt and eg. a chappy.

I personally prefer a jump chappy as a hq choice to bounce around with the jump pack equipped squad. If you drop pod you'll get there initially, but then your expensive assault squad will have to footslog. If they have jump packs you can go to other places faster, including cover!

IMO Plasma pistols are overpriced for what they do, un less you go hunting a squad of termie's and then your assault marines are in trouble f some of the term's don't die.

You could at least understand what I was saying. I stopped reading the post I quoted after the word "cos".

My point being that although he didn't use punctuation, it was still readable and still contributed to the conversation tongue.gif
