Well, going to start this one early so I can start painting and get everything finished [no ninja farseer this time].

This list with a unit of spiders and a couple of extra guardians took out 1500pts of SoS' khorne lads on Sunday [that'll teach me for writing a list off the top of my head and forgetting to put in a falcon!] so is hitting a bit above its weight so far. smile.gif

Pretty shooty list, with the farseer guiding the warwalkers most of the time and then the vypers when I need to hurt big bad units. The dire avengers and swooping hawks are my objective takers/ counter assualt units.

Any ideas, comments welcome.

4 Rangers - 76pts

4 Rangers - 76pts

8 Guardian Defenders, brightlance platform - 114pts

9 Guardian Defenders, brightlance platform - 122pts

9 Dire Avengers, Exarch, power weapon - 132pts
WaveSerpent, shuri cannon, twin shuri cannon, spirit stones - 140pts

2 Warwalkers, 4 x scatterlasers - 160pts

2 Vypers, 2 x starcannons - 130pts

6 Swooping Hawks, Exarch, web of skulls, sustained assault - 178pts

Farseer, guide, ccw, shuriken pistol - 72pts

Troops - 55%
Elites - 0%
Heavy Support - 13%
Fast Attack - 25%

Cheers,

Jon.

Not bad Jon,

Small and pretty fragile troops units, even more so than usual for Eldar. I think that alot of the fragile units will be picked off too easily.

Warkwalkers are a nice option, kudo's for taking them :-D Possible 12 shots out of them? :-D

I think the rolls of the Troops and the Vypers could do well to be reversed, as in Bright Lance on the Vypers, Starcannons in the Troops.

Dire avenbers are good.

Pity you have succumbed to the Exarch delivery system with the Swooping Hawks sad.gif My lest favourite Eldar combo.

Small model count wont help, if this is for JA, my Necron list that I might be taking only has 4 LESS models.

Cheers,

Tom

Yep, small and fragile, the troops will be hugging cover whenever possible.

Possible 24 shots, with rerolls to hit. S6. biggrin.gif

Until someone runs a tank at your troop choices and sits there blowing raspberries at you. This way my starcannons can pick any target they want [no ld tests] and my troops can atleast shoot the closest tank.

I can also guide both starcannons at the same time this way...

Yes, they are. biggrin.gif

Well, what can I say. I have two power weapons in my list. Both are weilded by s3 models. No powerfists at all. Unlike SO MANY of the marine and chaos lists I see where every unit has a sergeant/ Ass Champ who has terminator honours or daemonic strength and a powerfist/ weapon.

The unit is small and has a 4+ save. I see nothing to complain about especially given the lack of wraithlord/ spiders/ scorpions/ anything to take out high toughness & armour save models in combat.

Ill definitely have to be careful about deployment and timing the avengers and hawks charges. Apart from that Ill have to kill my opponents shooty stuff or assault units fast, then try and keep on the move until I can clean up whats left and counter charge with the hawks/avengers.

Or, as I did against andy, keep throwing those small troops units in the way and gun people down when they get out the other side of combat.

Cheers Tom,

Ronny.

Cheers Tom,

I know its a bit of an abused combo... first time Ive used them and in the context of the list they really are all Ive got to deal out hth nastiness.

The exarch can carve however, no mistake about that!

Shed challenge hugh? Thatd be cool. Still havent had a chance to play my mates new crons yet either. So apart from one tourny game where the dudes crons were getting up on 3's, Im a cron n00b.

How busy are you uni-wise at the moment, Smo's a bit run off his feet with three exams this week, but Im pretty sure "Sunday Gaming TM" in the sheds a goer never-the-less.

Give me or Paulo a call if you wanna come around.

I like the Vypers and the War Walkers taking turns on Fortune. These two units cover the anti-infantry area of your army very well. Using them with the Farseer is pretty cool. I love re-rolls. tongue.gif Keeping them out of the range of enemy guns will be difficult.

I know the Swooping Hawk Exarch can over perform at times, but that's not so bad in an army lacking anything else good for assault. The rest of the unit is pretty small and will be vulnerable to large numbers, 6 wounds arn't too hard to dish out to Eldar.

While i like the feel of this army, here are the things i would change to make it more durable. Change the Dire Avengers to Scorpions, who can help out the Swooping Hawks in assaault, keeping or losing the Wave Serpent.

The War Walkers are very fragile, not to mention the Vypers. But changing these units would ruin the feel i have for this army. Alot of satisfaction to be had at using these 2 units well, and great misery if you lose them in 1st round shooting.

Yep. These guys are the obvious targets for any shooting in an opponents army. Trying to hide them is difficult so first turn becomes pretty important. Hopefully concentrating fire with these two should clean up a unit per turn. The range of the waeapons should help keep them out of s4/5 weapons that seem to love taking them down.

Vehicles could be a bit of a worry... especially fast ones that can find a line of sight to my own. If the guardian squads are toasted early they could be a real pain, only able to take them down with rear shots from my vypers or waveserpent could be difficult.

Dropping the DA's and their serpent for a unit of infiltrating scorpions and another vyper or beefing up the guardian squads is a possibility. Only thing is my troops percentage drops to around 35%... which is a bit low

And my DA's are already painted...

Ah yes, compositon concerns. I still think 35% troops is just above the minimum. You'd hope the TO notices the flimsy vehicles at the centre of your cunning plan. Just taking an Eldar army puts you at risk of bad comp anyway.

Jagged is in October isn't it? Not much time to paint a whole squad! :-D
