[40k] King Kroot, Painting Kroot like and Australian Bird Options

As you may be able to guess, I am painting kroot like Australian King parrots. I got the inspiration from work as there are a pair of wild male king parrots who think that our pet male princess parrot is a female king, so they pop around to the aviary for a visit.
Anyway, to kick it off. My Shaper will be painted like a male king parrot, to set it apart from the rest of the squad easier. The kroot Hounds will also be painted in the same way.

The head will be orange red, the belly a deeper red, the body a dull green with blue-green highlights. The Kroot's "beak" will be a pastel orange/red with black edging and grey highlights. the "feathers" sticking out of the body will be a blue/black.

The standard Kroot will be modelled after the female king parrot and have a red belly like the shaper, but more of a grey/green head. The rest of the body will be similar to that of the shaper.


I still have to strip the hounds and the shaper but I should have pics up hopefully by friday.

I was thinking of doing my Kroot like a Sulphur-Crested ####atoo (skull white, golden/sunburst yellow). However this would clash with the T-X theme of the rest of the Tau army.
