Hey all!
With the army I'm currently brainstorming I am trying to adhere to the fluff as much as possible. So the question is: Is there any material describing the outfit for the Imperial Guard regiment/s on Karis Cephalon? To help you on your way the planet is referred to in the original Inquisitor game. All I was able to find was a battle report in WD 300-and-something between IG and CSM, and all they used were the studio Cadians! Oh and I also found this brief description of the planet: QUOTE KARIS CEPHALON Deserted forge-mine complex known as Taberna Ostium is site of imprisoned daemon Prince named Pharaa'gueotla KARIS CEPHALON Imperial world. Site of astrological convergence. Mutant slave labor trade broken up by Inquisitor Tyrus. "The Angel" - weapon from Dark Age of technology- hidden in catacombs under Capital. Settled during golden age, resettled during great crusade (29,350). C=Amethyst Palace, centered around pre-Imperial construct known as Needle of Sennamis (possible psychic conductor). 5.3K light years from Earth. Coptis sector [tempestus] Failing the actual presence of fluff, how would you model them? The only regiments I could find that are also in Segmentum Tempestus are Tallarn and Krieg... |

WD 269 (I think) there was an Inquisitor BatRep, the terrain was industrial, like the outskirts of a mining complex or something.
So I'd assume a reasonable tech base, probably easiest is to go with the Cadian models and then embellish them. -------------------- |

Hmm seems easy enough, you can never have enough Cadians
Any suggestions to link them to the mining background? I've searched for other mining worlds to get an idea of the local military, but all the planets I've found don't really have a standing military (Taros' men were handed over to Cadia for example). Even the Sq**ts don't seem to show any reference to the nature of their mining culture on the models. Having a look at the =I= bat rep you described, the terrain set looks desert-techy, almost a bit space-cowboy. So yeah gritty is the go, with plenty of tech. Where can I find some variant heads that might suit better than Imperial Stackhats? |

Remember seeing alternate Ork heads online.
Search on Google for miniature heads 28mm maybe? Found some old zombie WII gas mask ones once, looked okay. Steel Legion might be a start with their goggles and featureless helmets for sticking head lamps on? Vostroyans also have beautiful techie detail. -------------------- Adventures in Army Painter Soft Tone:

I must have been bored...
Search fu tells me that WD #260 has Creating Worlds: Gav discusses adding specific locations to your planet by looking at the key sites he created for the world of Karis Cephalon. Also: 881M33 — Adeptus Terra officially recognises new semi-democratic regime on Karis Cephalon WD #259 350.M30 Karis Cephalon is rediscovered during the Great Crusade. Some mention of it here in regards to an inquisitor : http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ivixia_Dannica. The =I= character Barbaretta also appears to hail from the Karis Cephalon Security Force.. which may give you some pointers? Given that "karis Cephalon" appears to have been a GW Studio creation (looks to be by Gav Thorpe) for a campaign then perhaps if you sent them an email they may be able to give you some "info". Failing that I know Gav has a blog floating around somewhere... could be worth a shot? Hmm last but not least... IN101 INQUISITOR CONSPIRACIES 2: DEATH OF AN ANGEL $8.00 ($13.00 CAN) The Mutant slaves are revolting and Karis Cephalon stands on the precipice of descending into all-out anarchy. Unknown cults begin to take full advantage of the current situation. Can the forces of the Inquisition stop these shadowy organizations before it is too late? Our second scenario book for Inquisitor! Written by none other than Gav Thorpe and Graham McNeill, this campaign supplement not only continues plots started by Inquisitor Scarn in the Cirian Legacy (from Inquisitor Conspiracies 1) but also details the opulent world of Karis Cephalon. The supplement contains 3 complete campaigns comprising of 14 unique game scenarios, plus full background & history information for the sector, new characters, and more! Could very well be the sourcebook you are looking for. Obvious one but have you checked the specialist games site?
It may have been tacked onto another .pdf. Also worth trawling Inquisitor fan sites, if there are any. -------------------- Adventures in Army Painter Soft Tone:

It may have been tacked onto another .pdf. I hadn't thought of that. I've already got the living rule book and errata, I might tryl D/Ling everything else and seeing what is in there. Haven't had much luck finding =I= fansites, most of them are dark heresy or rogue trader these days. Oh well back to trawling! |

QUOTE So yeah gritty is the go, with plenty of tech. Where can I find some variant heads that might suit better than Imperial Stackhats? Just got some of these for non-cadian cadians. I really like them. http://www.gamingdragon.com.au/b/33287/1/p...production.html -------------------- |

Ah pig iron that's the one I was looking for cheers!
The heavy infantry heads look pretty kewl, assuming I don't find any existing material and choose my own style: ![]() ![]() On that note, I've thrown the question in with an =I= fan forum, so hopefully I will have some juicy fluff to share in the next few days. Fingers crossed |

Finally got some dirt on these guys second hand from someone in possession of the Conspiracies book:
QUOTE The Special Security Agency (SSA) is funded by the Governor and other trading families to enforce the laws of Karis Cephalon. They also form the Planetary Defence Force, abile to muster hundreds of thousands of militia, organised into battalions aThe SSA has many divisions, from armed and armoured enforcement agents, undercover operatives and spies. cross the world. They have raised regiments for the Imperial Guard from this force, although the Departmento Munitorium is reluctant to make such requests of a world so heavily controlled by the Ecclesiarchy. So there ya go, it turns out the SSA is the PDF. They have many divisions, obviously including the arbites that Barbaretta is a member of, so perhaps she would be a good model to use for inspiration. Thankyou to my fellow fluff-hunters for helping me find this material and inspire me with modeling ideas. Let me know if anything else crops up |
