More Pictures!

Another Grey Hunter done.

IPB Image

I am actually finding it easier to sit down and paint a model to completion at the moment, I think it is because I am actually seeing the squad come together and am liking the look of them. Will hopefully finish up the remaining four shortly.

Then move onto their Rhino for some change.

C & C as always is welcome and encouraged.

More Progress.

IPB Image

Really wish I painted this quickly when I was back at uni, would manage to knock over an army in a month or two. Hopefully more images to come soon.

Pictures!

I actually managed to finish all three of these models Today, for me that is totally unheard of. I am getting much quicker and painting the models is much easier for some reason, I guess I have just ironed out the kinks in the painting process.

I do still have their bases to go, but I will do them later tonight I think or maybe tomorrow. I am playing a game or two with a mate tomorrow, so I kind of need them sealed (am trying out Testor's Dullcoate for the first time, just to see how it compares) by tomorrow morning (which might prove tough), I may just have to proxy for now.

And lastly a whole group shot, since the Squad is now complete biggrin.gif

IPB Image

C & C is as always, welcome.

Cheers.

@Blue Cypher, thanks kindly for the comments. The few comments that I do get, keep me going.

Well the Squad is complete, they have been based and varnished. I only really need to put the Transfers on, but I will probably do that once I have the rest of the force painted.

EDIT ~ Photos as promised

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

Also I actually bothered to write a list, since I played my first game with my wolves the other day against a mate of mine, so I will be pretty much sticking to that list for now just to get a painted force together.

I have been mucking around with some Nobz as well (They were a gift from a mate). I have only finished up bases on a few, as I decided to rip the arms off others that had already been assembled to try and see what I could do with them.

Anyway pictures!

The Idea behind the bases is they are marching through an old stomping ground, so there are metal plates and H beams, just scraps that would be floating around after a Big Mek/Clan has left a place and it has been taken back by the desert. So will hopefully have lots of rusty colours on the piping etc and earthy tones on the rest of the base to contrast to the green Orks. (Well that is how it is playing out in my head.)

Righto, so another update!

Been mucking around with those Ork Nobz that my mate gave me so I can paint something other than blue for once, Green was a nice change.

Anyway photos.

IPB Image

I was going for a grimy, dirty fairly realistic style for this Ork. So it was really my first attempt into weathering/battle damage on an individual model and was a great learning curve. Will definitely be painting the rest of the Orks that I have in a similar style.

I am still considering weathering up the armour plates a bit more with some pigment work, but who knows.

IPB Image

This is a better shot of his base. As I explained before I was going for a scrapyard/desert style thing, maybe a Big Mek's old workshop or something.

It was my first attempt at using weathering pigments, I have had them lying around for a fair while and have never got around to it. Anyway very happy with it, and will keep at it and see what I can do, maybe some snow effects on my Wolves, most likely on the vehicles though, not the individuals.

C & C as always is welcome.

Awsome mate!!! I really like the weathering done on the yellow armor plates. Base looks tops too! The rust effect has turned out really well. Once you start using weathering powders there is no going back. Just make sure you seal them or they tend to come off, especially if you try varnish it.

I laid them down dry and then applied white spirits over them, although they do still seem to come off if touched or agitated.

I assume once I dullcoate the model they should sit still. Or is there something else I should try first?

Smashed out another one today.

IPB Image

IPB Image

Not a massive fan of how the base came out, as I was mucking around with different pigment colours and it did come out a bit too red. Also the sand that was used was a little too fine in some places but it has made for some nice variation I guess.

C & C as always is welcome.

Also any tips on sealing weathering pigments would be awesome.

Dullcote should hold most of it in place after the spirits. I've found on some models that spirits doesn't hold it so well for the spray but hopefully you will be ok.

Well I have applied the spirts many times, as I lay down one colour of pigment then use the spirits then do the next colour and keep going that way so they should be pretty good. (I hope.)

Okay here we go, last minute rush before I head back to uni next week sad.gif.

@Assaultguardsmen, thanks kindly for the words, I cannot take credit for the posing as my mate who has given me these orks put them together. I merely added the piping/I or H beams, barbed wire and sand, the large plates he had done himself. I did do the painting though biggrin.gif

Anyway got another Ork Nob finished. I am finding them quite fun to paint as the models have great character. They are a real joy to paint, would recommend it for anyone. It is in fact almost tempting me to start an Ork Army, but maybe that is for another day.

Anyway pictures:

IPB Image

Finally used my Tamiya Clear Red to imitate blood, it is actually quite nice, very very surprised at how well it comes up for minimal effort.

Also I Dullcoated my other Orks (that have been posted) today, unfortunately it did blow off some of the weathering pigments. Does anyone have any advice about keeping them stuck?

Nice ork, very characterful. Liking the subtle contrast of the yellow and the green. Also the Space Puppies look good, clean and crisp.

Thanks kindly, I think that contrast is what attracted me to the Bad Moonz scheme more than anything.

Anyway I must save my thread from the horrors of the second page of the Modelling Diaries section, so I have an update for you all.

Being back at uni has slowed down painting unfortunately, travelling to and from sydney everyday really reduces the time in the day, but I am still making some progress, and have thankfully managed to finish up another Ork Nob.

IPB Image

They are great fun to paint and really suggest to anyone that just wants something that is a joy to paint is to pick up some Orks.

On another note, I am still mucking around with ideas in my head for my IG army, tossing up between a kind of DKOK army using PIG iron heads and cadian bodies with actual DKOK models for veterans etc.

OR

Using Cadian parts with Glade Guard parts to make a Tanith First and Only Army.

I have already bought some bits that can/could be used to do both of these ideas, I just need them arrive and then pick up some cadians to knock up some test models. So hopefully they won't be too far away.

That's all for now.

C & C as always is welcome.

Vox here - definately voting for a Tanith First and Only Army. So Damn Cool.

looking good, dirty orkz look better than clean orkz. Think the bases need another lighter colour dry brushed/ highlighted, maybe bleached bone/dheneb stone.
