QUOTE(cmdr_roy @ Apr 16 2010, 09:54 AM) *

The smokey area terrain was a pain on my table, it blocked so much LOS that shooting became a bit pointless, not a good thing against Orks.
Although immobilising two of my own vehicles didnt help either....

Too true, the mission could end up being very lopsided. Having seen the effect when we played tested the mission at club I suggested to my opponent (also a club member) that we limit the amount of terrain that we would roll the smoke and dangerous dice. That is try and keep with the spirit or intent of the mission but not screw one of us over (my opponent in this case).

I think the mission could be improved by limiting the amount of terrain that can be affected by the smoke.

For "Its Cold Out There" - Night Fight is stupid difficult to remember to use. Luke and I played entire turns forgetting it. Also the +1" for the objectives seemed like one too many rules.

Choosing your own objectives and sealing them was cool, but having two of the bonus battlepoints as possible choices made them a no brainer.

Choosing your opponents objectives was interesting, I played it wrong so cant comment further without playing it a few more times.

Im glad we played the burning + smoking terrain mission first. Had we played it mid tourney I know it would have ######ed me up, what with switching from True LOS to 4th ed terrain and back again.

Private Ryan was good fun.

The kill points mission last round was all good. Not too many special rules after two solid days of gaming.

I like to tell a little story about the last man who was in a sword fight with Caine. During the fight he was heard commenting on how crappy a blade it was, old and busted, not cared for, and on and on. Finally he asked Caine what its name was. Caine grinned and said "Sword." and then shot the guy 4 times.

It's OK Stu.....Now that Ben is engaged, you will just have to look elsewhere. I think you and Roy would make a great couple.

As for Ben and Hannah, this is great news. I noticed that you waited until after she got the data entry right for MIF before you proposed. armata_PDT_14.gif

Best of luck to the two of you. By the way, I think I met a fella at MIF who might be able to hook you up when it comes to Wedding Photo's. Which leads me to one more thing I didn't like about MIF this year......No where near enough Consto!!!!! Seriously, couldn't that couple have postponed their wedding so Consto didn't have to work???? armata_PDT_11.gif

That is all.

Do you think its something that more conscious thought in terrain placement could overcome?

Yeah, I think some tables really suffered from way too much terrain in that mission.

Ours was probably 1/3 terrain, in big blocks of jungle.

So it was quite painful.

Did moving away to another part of the venue surface as an idea Cam ?
There were comfy couches down stairs near the GeometryHammer guys that we crashed on between games.

Heh. I actually thought the Arabic music echoing through the hall created a really evocative mood in which to view the armies - I loved it!

It made me want to tear my own limbs of and then use them to beat things with.

Although it was moderately funny because I'd had very little sleep so I wasn't 100% sure that it was real, I couldn't figure out for a while why there was music or if indeed there was...
