"C" for Beastmen is interesting, agreed.
The general consensus is that they are not as powerful as the middle armies so will be good to see if any players can challenge for the top places at the tourney. Orcs and Goblins seem to like being in tier "C". Cheers. Saying you need 2 Gyros for an aggressive Dwarf force is hogwash. Saying you will take a gun-line unless allowed to take 2 Gyros is blackmail!! C'mon Theo, the list works fine with 1 Gyro and both variants (aggressive or defensive) are feasible. Cheers. Jeff, Apologies if my comments came across as blackmail. That is not my intent. I haven't actually seen a gunline + 2 Gyros..... I didn't even think of that, but the marchblocking / slowing potential of Anvil + 2 Gyros does perhaps lead to a very significant opportunity for "boring play". Please, make the argument to me before suggesting I am trying to blackmail an exploit into the structure. Perhaps I am being pickly about this, but I honestly hope those who know me would know me well enough to know that blackmail isn't a weapon in my armory. As for Trent, I respectfully disagree. Standards change in various communities of gamers, and over time. I remember when I started playing, only 18 months ago, that a Steamtank + alter was an auto resubmit. It remained that way until the advent of ETC rules. I would suggest that feeling as to whether such a selection "should" be allowed is varied among the community. How can we determine where the overwhelming sentiment is? Well, I would argue only by trialling some combinations of items and units, and determining that way whether they remain overpowered with new books, and new potential counters for them available. ETC rules were developed by the community, and will be flawed as long as the community remains flawed. Same with any comp system. We, as a whole, can't just sit back and go "well, we've got it all figured out" because things will change. Case in point, 8th ed. -Theo -------------------- |

Internet makes it seem a lot harsher than intended. I know you weren't attempting blackmail But I'm glad you see the problems with allowing a seemingly simple and harmless change, and what consequences it can have. Anyway, let's not derail this thread anymore, especially into a comp discussion thread.... It's great that Pupcon is on again, hats off to Chris for doing this, Sydney needs a June tourney and now we have one. Cheers. Just a quick update guys. This morning I ammended the players pack, as I had made some mistakes with the ETC restrictions. I have re read the lot to check for mistakes, I think I have them sorted.
Other then mistakes I have made, there will not be any changes to the restrictions. So, no 2 gyro's. Like I said in the players pack, I am reserving the right to ask for resubmits from beast lists if they are over the top. And if official restrictions come in a month before the event, then they will be what is played. Again I am really looking forward to running this event, come 1 come all (up to 50) and enjoy a last hoorah with 7th ed in Sydney. |

If your paths don't cross at pupcon, we could arrange a game after maybe at Moab or perhaps even after the days play if you are keen! I'm always up for Fantasy hammers! -------------------- |
