I was just wondering if anyone has been to CanCon before?
What's it like? what are the nearby accomodation options? Who's thinking about it?

I've had it recommended to me. Why don't we get an SA'er group together and hit up CanCon

I went this year and personally I found it more to my likeing than arc. Having said that myself and chris Berkin are going to next years and I believe Brian from group north makes the trip.
Apart from that bane goes for flames of war and I saw maybe 3 others there too. As for accommodation I don't know I posted in there forums asking for a spare bed and ended staying with an awesome canberrian. This year Im driving though as taking the whole family on an extended road trip down through nsw

Been a couple of times - once for warmachine and once for FOW - enjoyed experience both times, I am seriously considering going for 40k (Or Dystopian Wars if anyone runs it)

I had been wondering what the atmosphere would be like compared to Arc.
Well, I reckon I may have some interest from the SEBF crew. I'm thinking we should totally get a bandwagon going if we can get some hardcore interest.
It's on the same time as Arc isn't it? that's during uni holidays - easy for me to jag time off.
What would people be thinking? driving? minibus? flying?

Phillip and I (Brian) have been there the last two years. Both trips were worth it.
We are very likely to be there again in 2012.

I have been a couple times, to play 40k and to help TO 40k. I am looking to go again next year, possibly to play DWars if not some 40hammerz or Blood Bowl.

It would be great to get a SA group together and hit Cancon.

Last time I went, I used a mystery Wotif (so got the room dirt cheap) and it turned out to be Rydges Eagle Hawk Resort which was super close to the venue and a really nice place.

And yes, Cancon is Australia Day weekend.

Chester and I went twice.

There is a motel (Red Cedars I think) that was in walking distance.

It was a good event the first time but the 2nd was crap - all depends on the TO.

I thought it was always kreffey

Funds permitting, I'm looking at flying up playing with my toy soldiers. Though which ones I won't decide on for some time...

So I'll bump this cause registrations were opened on the weekend still mad keep for the trip

Tom and I are both looking at going - personally I prefer the Cancon vibe to ARC and not being limited to gaming just 40K enjoy the fact that there is a lot more to look at (although it does lead to the issue of not being sure what to play)

Yeah ill be going, 40k for me! I better register now!

I'm definitely interested in going! Flights or mini bus better fellas who went to ATC should have experience in this

I will be flying this time - bus trip was great for ATC but would not want to do to often - plus have to get back sunday night for daughters first day of school monday.

im planning on driving over with a mate but f times not a restriction for you there will be spare seats, probably leaving tuesday and head back following wednesday.

Southern Wargamers will be well represented at Cancon. At this stage we have 5 flames of war players, one Dystopian Wars player and one fantasy player all booked with flights and accomodation.

Looks like we will have double digit numbers from SA overall across a range of events.

Well...there goes my plan - I've got a wedding on that weekend
