A little something to wet the appetite...
For the Main Event (50pt SR2011), a rare set of trophey coins will be awarded. These coins were custom made, and have only been awarded at a handful of events. Furthermore, this is the very last set.
Champion - Awarded to the overall winner of the day.
Heartseeker - Awarded to the player that claims the fastest caster/lock kill over the course of the event.
Destroyer - Awarded to the player that claims the most CPs over the course of the event.

More prizes will be announced as the event draws nearer.

A quick update before life forces me offline again. For the Main Event (50pt Steamroller), 1st - 3rd will receive official Privateer Press Steamroller certificates and trophies.

For 'There Can be Only Fun! (25pt Highlander), 1st - 3rd will receive CGS Cancon 2012 certificates and Dragon trophies. (sorry, no pic).
And yes, more prizes will be announced

I am filled with sadness, for I cannot take my minions to the highlander event. Because I cannot take duplicate warbeasts, it is literally impossible to make a list that meets the requirements.
Any chance we can get a special dispensation allowing two war hogs? Otherwise minions (edit: farrow specifically, I think gators can get by thanks to the ironback spitter) can't make a legal list worth more than 17 pts.

Let me think about it. This may just be one of those times where choosing to play such a shallow/minor force works against you.
In other (and possibly related news), models released
after 31 Nov will
not be allowed in either event. Note - Domination is due in Nov

You mean, like Pirates?
No sweat if not, it just seems like a great for-fun event and it seems a shame to be excluded because of choice of faction.

OK, had a think and asked advice...
I am going to allow the lessor warlocks and their associated beasts to be taken as per their normal rules. If taken, they only count as your solo (not as solo & beast).
This makes the rules for the event a bit messy(ier), but it adds some flexibility in areas that badly need it.

Hi there, is there any chance of altering the release restrictiOn to Jan (for the ret jacks) since it's more of a friendly con =D
Can you make an unreleased model (nicia) using PP models for conversion I'd rules are already released (wrath) but model isn't?
ethsar46
Oct 5 2011, 09:16 AM
No, from the steamroller rules, unless the official model has been released you cannot use it even if you converted it up.
I checked this awhile ago to see if i could use the new Khador Demolisher if i converted one up.

Reasoning being along the lines of: if it's not instantly recognizable for your opponent it is confusing/timewasting/unfair in a fast paced environment. He might drop it for the first day at best but personally I'd just move on Dru

I didn't pick up on this...
Since Domination is not going to be released until November, and most of the releases for that are staggered for the next 4 weeks afterwards, it means most of the Domination stuff won't be usable?
Why not just make it models released up until the event itself? Since they will just be models from books released months and months prior, it's hardly going to be a surprise for anyone.

That is correct. 25Pts for the Friday event (see 1st post of this thread for that format's associated list restrictions), and 50pts for the Saturday (and likely Sunday as well) event.

Nope. As advised by others, the offical model has to have been released before any sort of proxey/converted version will even be considered for a Steamroller event.

Why is this [cut off date of 31 Nov for legal models] the case? I don't see the reasoning behind it...
The idea was simply to make sure that everybody has had plenty of time to practice both with their intended lists and against the models they may face across the table ('gotcha' does not equal 'skill'). However, in hindsight 31 Nov does seem overly early.
Lets go ahead and make it 31 Dec, and hope that Santa is kind

There will always be things that people haven't played against, I still don't see your logic, there is only one new release in December and that's the circle Battle Engine, and it's rules are in the new NQ. Any Jan new releases would have been in Wrath and Domination, thus giving people around two months to have read up on the models.

they are just asking for $40 for both days, no day 1 option.

suits me.
also to clarify witht he 25 oint games, additional points can only be spend on beasts, jacks, engines.... not solos or units? how about warcaster attachments?

Points leftover after the initial - required - purchases may only be spent on beasts, jacks and engines. I have edited the 1st post to clarify the purchase of warcaster/lock attachments.

Will CanCon results be recorded on Rankings HQ? I've just discovered that previous events I entered this year have been recorded there and I had no idea that would happen. I can only assume that my consent to collect and publish that information was not required (?).
Im not necessarily against recording and publishing results, but being transparent and letting people know before hand would be nice.

Oct 25 2011, 06:37 AM
Results will be 'published' as they have always been, via forum postings after the event.
I also intend to submit the results to RHQ. However, any player that would like their details withheld need only ask.

OK peeps - we are about 3 months out. I highly suggest people....
1 - Pre-register
2 - Settle on the list(s) they will bring and spend the remaining time learning them inside and out.
3 - Get a timer and start limiting your turns.
4 - Play SR2011 scenarios whenever your opponent agrees.
And to the 14 people have pre-registered. Thanks guys

4 x 50 pointers in SR 2011, 12min turns and 6 of the only be fun games in (what scenarios will these be?)... my 25pt lists are done and dusted (and unbeaten) .. 50 pts is proving to be more of a challenge, one of our guys has already canned a list because of the time limits.... we now have a sweet spot model count worked out to build lists around.
In short us orange blokes (not to be mistaken for umpa lumpas) hope to not be filling the last 6 spots on the grid.

Scenarios will be announced prior to each round, and any SR2011 scenario is possible. While I will ensure that each day includes a good spread of the scenario types, I am also not eliminating any scenarios from the pool prior to the event.
