Matt has offered to host a malifaux tournament in early December at Hall of Heroes.

Can I get a "hell yeah" or similar to gauge interest please?

Malifaux Tournament at The Hall of Heroes, 60 Queen St, Campbelltown.

Intro:
Decembers Curse is a tournament designed to allow all players, be they new to the game or expert, to have a fun day and get right into the awesome game that is Malifaux. To this end, things have been kept simple and ‘to the book’.

Tournament Rules:
Models DO NOT need to be painted, however all models must at least be assembled and representative of the model they are supposed to be (with an appropriate and up to date ‘stat card’). Proxies are allowed for unreleased models, if you have any proxy concerns, please contact the tournament organiser.
This event consists of 3 games, which are 35 stone scraps.
Crew selection is per the “Limited Faction Pool”. This means that each player will pick their crew at the start of each game from a 55 stone ‘pool’ which must be submitted to the tournament organizer before the first game. Only a single master and faction may be used for all 3 games. Please read the Malifaux “Gaining Ground” rules pack – available from http://www.wyrd-games.net/Upload/MalifauxG...nd2011print.pdf
Encounters are the “Random Expanded Encounter” from the Malifaux “Gaining Ground” rules pack – available from http://www.wyrd-games.net/Upload/MalifauxG...nd2011print.pdf
Special Events (page 88-89 of the Malifaux Rules Manual) will be used. See the game schedule (below) for which events will be in place.

Estimated schedule:

Game 1 – 10 am to 12pm
Special Event: Foggy

30 minute lunch

Game 2 – 12:30 pm to 2:30pm
Special Event: Dark Omens

Game 3 – 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Special Event: Stampede!

Pack Up & Awards – 4:30 pm to 4:45pm

There will be prizes for first, second and third, as well as potential for a best painted and wooden spoon, depending on number of entrants.

There is a $15 charge which will cover trophies and a drink and chicken schnitzel roll or equivalent cost food item for lunch.

Hell yeah!

If you need any help with the pack lemme know. Are you going with story or gaining ground? Oh and strategies announced before the day or flipped on?

Also LordShaper (Damien, the sonnia player at moab) is running a tourney in blacktown i believe on the 11th of december so i'll let him know about this thread and hopefully you guys can work something out.

Ok looks like I can get 2 from my regular group, possibly 4 (inclusive). Will ask Spanky's mob about more possible numbers but I'm not too certain about them due to distance. At the moment put down myself + Turelio though.

Anyway question I just thought of: how do Avatars fit into an SS pool game? Do you just leave 2SS aside marked as Avatar, or is it assumed that you can always include them in the 35SS game without including them in the pool?

I am pretty sure avatars "cost" 2 stones, so would say you have to pay for them to be available in the pool.

About what I thought but wanted to confirm. I mean that's another Vulture or Dead Doggie right there.

Ok sofar put it down as 4 of us from the Parramatta group, no idea on the 2 others I mentioned though.

Shaper, will pass on the details for your event as well. Not sure if I can make it (I'm not a hardcore tourney boy so 2 in a row would be pushing it), but could use the extra games prior to CanCon so will have to see.

Do we have an update on tourney info for this? Said group's been hammering their painting (I haven't but I got caught up in doing my AusCon Wizards entry... anyway). So I was putting my list together and a question came up:

What's the stance on models for this one? Released only or can we use items from the book? I ask because I was going to go Unique-heavy (the nice thing about Ressers is that I can just make all my toys) but Rafkin's not slated until next year. Thoughts?

Proxies are allowed - as long as they represent what they are supposed to be (some kind of Mummy for Rafkin?)

So, any updates on this one? I'm deffo attending (PM sent ages ago), as are a few people I know, any other news?

No real updates... apologies to those I didnt reply to PMs... I usually use WAU on my phone and forget to reply...



a couple of tidbits:

- looks like we may have up to about 20 players!!! (depending on the turnout of store regulars... we will have anywhere between 14 and 24 players!)

- There is an open "malifaux bring & game" day on the saturday (3rd) so if you want 2 whole days of malifaux, then Hall Of Heroes is the place to be that weekend!!

- I will play 'tiebreaker' if we have an odd number, but if we have even numbers of players I will be running some demo games, so if you have friends who want to try out malifaux, let them know to come along.

A question that came up today when Borzag and I were trying to get to grips with Gaining Grounds - Are you allowing Master and Faction specific schemes in the event? Also, what scoring system is it using?

Dont forget all: this tournament is on THIS WEEKEND! get excited.




Turelio: Master and faction specific schemes are allowed and encouraged.


Scoring will *probably* be TP/VP/Diff but I reserve the right to change it before the start on sunday to VP/Diff/TP as I like both options...

I don't tweet, but will take a book down to get notes for a report. No promises though, there may be hangover.

Just thought id say that tourney starts at 930. I thought it was 10 until i got told otherwise.
