WargamerAU Forums > Tournaments and Conventions > NSW tournaments and conventions
Loriness
Hi all NSWmen,

With the details for ATC 2012 been announced, my objective is to take a NSW team that will win the ATC2012.

The events is held in Melbourne on the first weekend in September (1st and 2nd) and Teams will register in June and supply codex choices and army lists in July/August.

The timeline will be,

- Drafting players till mid March 2012
- Player selection (from the draft) March till May 2012
- Refine list and play test June to July 2012

I will be coordinating the team selection process to have the strongest team possible.

Drafting Criteria

- Players in the ATC team 2011 will drafted for the codex they used plus one codex of their choice that they used in a tournament in the last 12 months ending mid March 2012.
- Top 8 players in Ranking HQ at the end of March will be drafted for up to 3 codex they used to gain those ranking points
- Up to 2 players in Ranking HQ for each codex at the end of March will be drafted for that codex
- Top 4 in 2 major tournament, it does not need to be a NSW tournament (eg. Cancon, QM, Terracon) will be drafted for that codex
- Players can be drafted multiple times for different codex
- Likely to be available to attend ATC

Selection Criteria

- Player must be available to attend the ATC. Arrive on Friday afternoon for team dinner and happy hour biggrin.gif
- Up to 2 best players for each codex will be determined through multiple play off during March to May.
- Same player can qualified in up to 3 different codex
- Top 8 players will also be determined at the same time during multiple play off during March to May.
- I will select the strongest overall team from players available. Note that you might not have your first army choice if it result in a stronger team.

Other notes

It is likely people will need to take at least half a day off work (Friday) for travel.
Budget and accommodation will be done closer to the event but people who accept should expect about $400 (includes air travel $150, accommodation and food $200, entry $50)

I will post a first round drafted players list this week. Please confirm if you are interested and able to come.

Thank you,
Denis

You will need to get 2 good results (top 4 in 2 tournaments, I might accept top 4 battle) before I can add you in for Eldar.
You still have till mid March to get in with Eldar.
The Dark Angel
Someone needs to challenge Alex for Dark Eldar (I'll just bribe all my opponents till march tongue.gif )
Chevynova
Qld approves of the above list.

biggrin.gif that's because I made a mistake. Or it is my special plan to get players to play for the NSW team no matter their home state. I want to win, bad.
Wilson
Glenn Wilson will be available

You do know that he's not house trained yet! God knows we have tired, but nothing helps! tongue.gif

Chee is available.
Azure Fade
At this point in time - Damien Carter is available.
ArchonCryx
Alex is available and keen to improve his ranking. (Please note my recent improvement, sir!? )ATC rocked this year so I'm keen to get down to Melbourne for the next one...
chadmac
I'm as available as I can be with 9 months for something to come up. Little sick of the wolves though, Can't see myself breaking them out again till at least LoT.

looks like I'm taking horde bangles for cancon
Loriness
Good to see most players are ok at this stage. Drafting will end in march, so there are plenty of time to qualify.
Lonestar
I will be OK as well.
Loriness
List updated.
With 3-4 tournaments till March, I hope to see more players step up and get into the first draft.
Angmar
Probably going to be another quiet year for me tournament wise. Looks like I'm missing cancon as well now to go to a wedding.

There is still Dogcon, 3++, Lev, EH till May. So you got lots of chances.
I will likely run a one day tournament in March and/or June
Good ol Shakey
BIV as well... that april (i think)
Loriness
I have been checking the flight ticket and accommodation price (other than the motel near by) and it looks likely to be around $400-$500 for this trip.

Flights - $100 to 150 each way ~ $250pp
Accommodation - I should be able to access cheap rates for 4 star hotel ($50 a night pp) that is 5-10 min drive away from venue ~ $120
Car hire - $25pp

So if you do want to come, be prepare for the cost.

Will we organise some fundraising? (raffles etc)

how about something like the From the warp storm wardens project, I'm sure most people on the team could spare a unit or 2 for a 2k marine army. Team paints it, or gets it painted, raffle it off. we have some impressive painters on that list

Good ol Shakey
everyone donates a kit from a certain army, or we ask for donations from a couple of stores...
AJenko
I recon a small raffle (of store product and/or donated goods) at events would be a good way to raise some money for the NSW team. Im sure a few TOs would be happy/ok with you organising something like this at a few NSW events.

Heck i know i would spend about $2-$5 (comes down to pocket change) on tickets to support the team/chance of winning something. Even if i dont make the team, i would still be willing to make a small donation.
Kirby
Can't David just pay for it all smile.gif?

I will be holding a trial in late March 2012 (more details to come) as we approach the pointy end of ATC selection. To players that are not on the draft list yet, the trials in March will be open to all players. It will be the final wild card entry for people who are good but did not attend a lot of tournaments last year.

The following players have indicated that they are interested in coming to ATC. Please note that it will cost around $400 for the trip and you will need to be prepare for the financials even if we get some level of supplement.

The following are the drafted players and have indicated that they are available,

Adam Jenkinson
Alex Ozane
Ben Medbury
Chad Mackenzie
Chee Wong
Damien Carter
David Teoh
Denis Fung
Glen Wilson
Jason Miller
Jay Lajtar
Jeff Dunster
Julian Miller
Scott Gray
Shane Sofra
Simon Rainbow
William Kirby Wykoff

Even if you can not go to ATC, please come to the trials to keep the other honest and test their credentials with a few tough games.

Loriness
Just to clarify, if you are interested to earn a place in ATC team and not on the list, please post your interest here.

I'm out for clash due to my wedding anniversary,
Grudge is a maybe,

but highest battle points with wolves at cancon should count for something.

I don't know who you played in Cancon, so the second highest BP for a wolf player might or might not mean anything. That is why I am running Grudge-Con so I can get a better comparison between NSW players.

Picking the right person to grudge and/or list to grudge is a skill that is useful in ATC.
Loriness
At the moment I have 4 definite members selected in the ATC team,

Denis Fung
David Teoh
Jason Miller
Julian Miller

I think most if not all of us agree that they are in the top 4 NSW players.

This mean I have 4 positions available and 1 to 2 Reserve spot. There is always a good chance that the reserve player will be called (like last year) as family or unexpected things happens.

The following players have performed well recently (Cancon, Dogcon, Clash 3++) for me to take notice,

Chee Wong - DA
Glenn Wilson - Eldar
Simon Rainbow - BA
William Kirby Wykoff - GK,BA
Scott Norwood - DE
Jason Collins - IG

If your name not in the list above, you know who to grudge in Grudge-Con.

Beat 2 of the top 4 players (Jason, Julian, David, Denis), it will likely secure your spot in the team.
If you can beat 2 of the 6 (Chee, Glen, Simon, Kirby, Scott, Jason), I am sure you deserve a call up.

See you at Grudge-Con
Devourer
Hmmm I guess i have to bring a serious army than. Are list going to be posted so people know what they are getting themselves into when they grudge?
Starfire
Yes David, no battleforces this year. tongue.gif

Once I have lists I will send it out to all players
Reunion-Round

Does it mean anything that Jason Miller hasn't been able to beat me with the biggest stick in the bush since CanCon 2011? tongue.gif

Just putting it out there... that i'm in Canberra now, and they want me in their team as well... but i'm not sure I want to even play yet.
Loriness
After Grudge-Con, I have more players added to the ATC team.

Denis Fung
David Teoh
Jason Miller
Julian Miller
Chee Wong
Jason Collins

I will be tracking the following players' progress in the coming months before I decide on the final two spots,

Simon Rainbow
William Kirby Wykoff
Scott Norwood
Ben Medbury
Rohnan Browne
